Well done Rik. That's true pioneering spirit - I hope you consumed some by the way (spirits, I mean).
Your train looks very realistic trundling along through the snow, the effort in clearing the road was well worthwhile.
A great and original way to see the new year in.
All the best,

Congratulations on a well deserved win Kjell. Not only is it a great shot of a lovely loco, it also shows what a lovely railway you have built.

Re: Aerosol sprays and priming wood
Thanks everyone, You've collectively provided some really handy tips and advice. It's going to be very handy for future builds. Halfords seem to be very popular with most people. I'll investigate their range of colours further. It looks like I'm going to be dipping my elbow in a few bowls too before...

Hello all, My apologies for re-opening a debate which must have had more come backs on here than Frank Sinatra! I've trawled through various searches but can't find the answers I'm looking for, in any case it's a topic which I've not seen discussed recently and people my have new experience to share...

Thanks Peter, Thanks Gareth. I ordered an IP brake van yesterday to house the beast. I'll wait for the van to arrive and give it a good coat of looking at then peruse the two sites you've suggested to source the 'bits'. I've not done any serious building for years, I'm quite looking forward to it. I...

Re: Zach Bond "Momentum Van" project
After another one of my seemingly interminable pauses in the progress of the Charnwood Forest Light Railway things are finally stirring again. (Brace yourselves for further (sporadic) updates on my CFLR topic in the 'Railways' section). Achieving at least some sort of scale speed and 'controlability...

Re: livery inspiration
Of the blues I'd go for 5010 or 5017 personally, but color choice is a very personal thing and computer screens distort colour comparisons anyway. At the end of the day, the oldage, "Your railway, your rules" applies. I'm with Philip all the way here. I agree with his 'blues prefere...

It's OK for you guys living just around the corner..... some of us need to catch the bus! That is a problem, till we can sort out a working TARDIS Having seen some of the things you've tackled Dazza, I would be at all surprised if we were to spot a prototype sitting in a corner of your workshop! An...

Hi Tony,
The first clip reminds me very much of the footage on YouTube of the Leek & Manifold. Nice to see such scale speed running with a Mamod.

Re: Further Improvements to a Roundhouse Fowler
Aaron, I'm enjoying watching your work on the locomotive, but I think someday you must write a bit about how you've laid the track in your garden. It looks absolutely real- in fact in the first picture the only thing that gives it away as being a model is the locomotive sitting on it and the fence ...

Hi Rik, That's lovely! I bet it's going to look the bee's knees with your existing passenger stock. The livery really suits it. The steps and the handrails have worked out very well. I love the profile of the hand rails and the chain across between them really sets it off. Are your platforms long en...

Hi pippindoo, As others have said, it's great to see you posting again and to see some great progress on the Hollycross Railway. I've always enjoyed your posts. In the interests of keeping the competition spirit alive and following on from Philipy's theme, here's an offering from the Charnwood Forest Light Railway taken this morning on the curve just above Anstey station. Not the most inspired piece of photography you will ever come across (nor the finest p...

One of if not the best technical record I've ever read of any line - and definitely the best on the L&B.
