Might be worth keeping an eye on what materials are being used by the builders in case there is somthing useful to you that can be cadged, a few blocks or a bit of timber maybe.

How about a slightly improved offer to your young friend to carry out some exercise with one of those new fangled shovels?
Lazy little swine managed 4 blocks before he gave up and said it was too hard. Mind you, you should have seen the coughing fit :P

Finally sorted the pics out. Now this may sound like bravado but I intend to have some track laid and a train running on the lower section by the time it gets dark on monday  If you look at the picture of the garden from below there is a retaining wall in front of the shed. The plan is to have ...

Spades? Spades? Spades! I have heard of these devices..... But in all seriousness, I wanted a digger in for three main reasons. Firstly the amount of muck I wanted to move would have taken far to long to shift by hand. Secondly the soil is full of roots and rocks and is a swine to shift by hand. Thi...

While not railway related I can vouch for the efficacy of superglue having had various parts of my anatomy (including a large cut to the bonce) repaired with it!

hmmm, perhaps I will use a brass chassis instead as this loco is a bit hefty for one of motor rail's offerings. Interestingly although they are mainly known for the simplex in various guises, they did build many other types of smallish loco and various tram type items including some real oddities. Q...

Very, very nice. Do you fit an slr to the end of the telescope or is it more complex than that.
As for the weather, I live in Wales, next question please!

Cambrian chassis

I had another dull and boring day in work today so I started working out plans for Motor Rail Loco I want to build. (for those who are interested it is the six wheel shunter that they built as a stock item in 1930 and were never able to sell.) I had a idea that the Cambrian Chassis Kit would fit it ...

Matt. I don't know if this will help but there are ways of removing excess solder and cleaning the metal down again. Desoldering braid is available in various thicknesses. Just place it on the solder to be removed and heat with the iron. It takes a little work but I have salvaged a few badly put tog...
