Re: Identifying source of loco

The body looks too good to be scratch built by the same person who built(?) the chassis/under frame?

I am wondering if it is a 'commercial' body, which has had different fixings used to try to make it more 'realistic'. - Crosshead screws on a roof look naff, to me.

I am not sure anybody is ready for that! - The alignment of parts leaves something to be desired.

Those of a fragile disposition, should look away now!

Re: Sam small layout

Certainly enough to provide a little variety.

You do realise, that once you have enough track to play, the building tends to slow down a great deal?

Enjoy your trains!

Identifying source of loco

I think I may have more luck here, than on the other Forum I have posted?

I recently bought this:

Does anyone recognise the body / have an idea of where it came from / who makes them?

Many thanks,

Peter,
I spotted AAA and AA rechargeable batteries in the middle of Lidl today..
Not sure if that helps you, or not?

Re: Building Tan-y-Bwlch Water Tower

I very much doubt it would have been more than a manually operated gate valve?

Open to the elements, with a risk of freezing, and the potential risk of flooding the area, I don't think it would have used a float-controlled valve.

Re: Building Tan-y-Bwlch Water Tower - Part 1

That stone base is really impressive!
Did it take less time to draw, than it would to have scribed the stonework into foamboard, I wonder?

I keep looking at water tanks (and other railway buildings) but then think it will be better to get some track down first.

Re: traction motors for 32 and 45mm gauge

How trivial (or not) would it be to design / print a cover for the gears?

I assume these are designed to be axle-hung, so will need some sort of mount/carrier?

Re: Capacitor for motor RF suppression?

Many of the cheap speed controllers use 2kHz,or less..
That is definitely the PWM frequency you can hear.

If you have plenty of room, you could fit a PWM to linear converter, which will kill the noise..
It won't help with the mechanical noise of the drive-train, though.

Re: 7/8 Scale Model of a 1/2 Scale Model Boiler?

Fit a safety valve.. Would be my advice, and don't re-purpose an aerosol can. If it pops, it is the hot contents, you need to worry about.. And I doubt anyone would certify it, or any association insurance cover you for public liability? But if you want to mess about in your own shed, no one can sto...

Are Temu reliable? I've always avoided them because they seem to sell so much varied junk at ridiculously low prices that I assume they are scam/rip off merchants.
They do send you a lot of advertising emails though
So do the others..

Re: Marc Horovitz is Wrong. (IMO)

Marc's opinion.. Your opinion.. Neither of you are necessarily 'right' or 'wrong'. Scale. Gauge. Material you build from. Upper-quadrant, or lower-quadrant, signalling. Shade of green (for your loco's). - Even blue, with a face on the front! None of this is 'wrong'. It is your railway, and it has to...
