Time is slipping by on this one as life tends to create diversions. However, I have made good progess on the covered van having fitted the roof and added a canvas effect cover. Also all of the bolt heads have been attached and it is ready for painting tomorrow.... ./myff/1733769/IMG_1817.JPG ./myff/...

My wish would be to relocate the Exhibition to a more central location in the country.... Say Birmingham for example.

Good luck in the competition Brian but make sure the judges don't injure themselves on the sharp edges of that mesh!

I do have a reasonable amount of Plasticard in stock having purchased a number of extra large sheets recently. However, when I re-order, it might just create a waiting list for those following, so if you need some yourself......order now!!!!

Just time for a quicky....

Got the bit between my teeth now.... Having built the Guards Van, the Cattle Wagon and the Parcels Van and then put them together as a working train, I can see omissions in my expanding fleet. So, today it was time to put that right and begin yet another item of stock. No, that's not quite true! I b...

What a difference it makes to get everything neat and tidy and wires out of sight. Top marks for effort and a well explained and illustrated presentation.

If you, like me, are native Sandwell born and bred, then elocution lessons are definately to be recommended!
I have now escaped to West Wales and still trying to shake off the Black Country sound.

That's a classy piece of work there!
I do like your layout from the pictures I've seen. Well detailed and superbly finished. Should go down well at York.

Beautifully mature scenic lines. I would love to be able to recreate that effect on my line but I fear it would take years to achieve.

I too have plasticard models (16mm) which are approaching 40 years old. All are in stable condition and do not appear to have become brittle, however, I will admit they have been kept in boxes when not in use and only then used on indoor exhibition layouts, away from damaging UV. Below is 'George', ...

Plasticard makes a strong model in 16mm and although I haven't attempted the drop-kick test yet, I believe it would outlive a similar wooden construction.

I might give one a go in plastic. What thickness do you use? I know there are a few sheets knocking about but in rather bright red and green. I doubt the colour much matters though.  The colour is not important, neither is the thickness particularly.  I tend to use a thicker sheet for rigid section...

She's a beauty but with all that plumbing I would hesitate to use it outside with the potential of derailing and scraping along stonework!

Nice van , but the roof on the cattle wagon looks a bit warped..................... You're right about the roof Brian. The reason is because it is not yet fixed to the body as I still want to install cattle inside. The material I glued to the plastic has distorted the shape slightly but nothing tha...

And another........

I can't stand football! What a waste of time! No interest in the Grand National either. So...... what to do on a wet Saturday (again?) I know, I'll build a model. The last one, cattle truck, was based on those used on the W&L, so I opened the book to find something else which would go with it. T...
