Re: Accucraft Caradoc
Ian,
These are indeed M2 screws.
I find a 10BA nutspinner/box spanner is a good fit to a unworn screw head.
For longer reach, I have a length of plastic tube squeezed over the nutspinner's "handle".
I sort of hope the plastic will give before the screw head does!

Re: GRR - Light Railway Extension
I made one from this plan.
I believe you can even get flatbed vices in plastic.
Good enough for code 200 rail.

Re: PDF Baldwin the Build so far
Chucking in my ha'penn'th... PDF double Fairlie, completed December last. The main kit came via evilbuy, and turned out to have many parts missing. However, it had been well prepared, with a good coat of smooth primer. I had to source another motor, and in the process bought a third bogie from that ...

Re: ALDI rechargeable batteries
I can heartily recommend the Lidl Tronic LSD cells.
I use them in most of my steamers and several battery diesels.
They do, of course, come under the "specials" category, just a couple of times a year.
I've never seen rechargeables in Aldi, although I think their alkalines are a good buy.

Re: Bogies
I've mentioned to Rod, that as I said when we met, the bogie is built around a Tamiya car motor.
This is rated at 3V, and ought to be powered by two 1.5V battery cells.
Possibly three NiMH at 1.2 V would be OK.

Re: Chains
That sounds correct...
Just (crudely) measured Slo-mo chain on Stanley.
Pitch is a little under 4mm or 1/8th inch, 0.125".

Re: Chains
A while back, I was looking for roller chain of about 3mm pitch. Wanted it to increase servo travel on a loco regulator. Delrin worked, but quickly melted. That used on my slo-mo looked perfect. Slo-mo maker was rather cagey about its origin. Said I'd find on the net. Never did. Found another way in...

Re: Ffestiniog Hunslet 125 gala webcams
Andrew, I'm afraid, for me, these are not excellent webcams. I've been watching/recording for some years now. They are frequently off-line. When on-line, they frequently freeze up. I know there could be issues with my connection and all that, but the similar webcam on the Tal-y-Llyn seems never to f...

Re: 24 radius setter
Going back some way, the long-defunct Faller eTrain system used set track of even tighter radius. Various items still appear for auction. Small battery locos were quite happy on it. Don't think I ever tried steam. Found an old pic of the track, but no stock on it:- [attachment=0]MR070811-04.jpg[/att...

Re: 24 radius setter
Have a look at Marcway of Sheffield:- http://marcway.net/list2.php?col=head&name=O+Gauge+Templates They list a 24" template. It's do-able if you use a rail bender. Bending by hand/knee WILL result in steps in the curve. Take the rail out of the sleeper base, make the curve and re-insert the...

Re: Bogies
Sorry Rod,
My theory is to leave the front bogie as is.
Replace the rear, fixed, single axle drive with a swivelling 4w motor bogie.
This ought to make it comfortable on curves, like a bogie coach, (or Fairlie loco).
It is a bit radical, but I can't see a better way to do it.

Re: Suggestions please: removable ground-level section
I didn't add check rails, just those integral wth the points. The crossing is scratch built with minimal check rails. Track is loose laid on concrete, then flooded with mortar, and flangeways carved out while still "green". The edges do gradually erode. Adding check rails to Peco track... ...

Re: Bogies
Yes, Rod, Pretty much the same. Of course, it was some years back. Bought it in 2003 & finally sold it about 2010. I seem to remember it was reasonably stable, just ground to a halt on my curves. I felt it would benefit from a 4w power bogie at the rear, but couldn't locate anything suitable. Ju...

Re: Bogies
Rod, This looks like a Brandbright railcar? If so, I had one for a while, and it displayed all the troubles you mention. The problem is, it's simply too long for our typically sharp curves. I moved the battery box further back, and then refitted the bogie pivot under the front bulkhead. [attachment=...
