Re: Loco name-plates
A timely warning! Just considering ordering a couple of sets.
I know these things are not quick, NP do wait for enough orders to fill a sheet for etching.
Perhaps another order would jolly things along?

Re: Gauge 2
I recall reading that, of the numbered gauges system, gauge 2 had died an early death, being only a little larger than gauge 1.
Gauge 4 seems to have gone a similar way. A sad loss, as 5/8" scale equates to 16mm in modern terms.

Re: Etch primer and painting advice
I second that.
The data says for zinc & galvanised metals, such as steel. ie car body repairs.
Somewhere, I can no longer find, I once saw "will not adhere to brass".
I don't understand it's popularity.

I have several from that list.
But then, I'm the our sole with the train.
What I don't have (any more) is a lawnmower.

Re: Water gushing from smokebox ?
Well, Richie, it's certainly baffling!
There's really nowhere for water/steam to collect, other than the top of the boiler.
Is it over filled?
Otherwise it's possible the steam pipe has become detached from the reverser block, under the smokebox.

Re: DJB Engineering Accucraft whistles
I've fitted two. Not to my Edrig, but to RH Karen and Assoc Victory.
Both whistles are identical.
Resonator diameter is 9.6mm and projection from spec plate into cab is 70mm.

Typos, Jimmy?
Or is it despair?
Really, I think the issue comes down to the fine and blurry line between 16mm and G gauge.
Don't the G scale society provide a beginners' guide?

Do you know, or can you measure, the physical dimensions of the battery pack?

Re: Edith locomotive
My experience with Delrin is on an Essel chassis under a converted HLW Mack body. It has the grunt to recover gassed-out steam locos, but the Delrin, as mentioned, progressively stretches. Eventually, a link can be removed, but the process continues. After removing a second link, the chain breaks. S...

Quote: by Busted Bricks » Thu Mar 05, 2020 9:19 pm It might be hard to tell from the picture but the chain used is steel roller chain, not Delrin chain. Sprockets are also steel. May I also ask about source of chain/sprockets. In my trawlings, 3mm pitch roller chain seems phenomenally expensive. Del...

Re: Accucraft Caradoc
Ian,
These are indeed M2 screws.
I find a 10BA nutspinner/box spanner is a good fit to a unworn screw head.
For longer reach, I have a length of plastic tube squeezed over the nutspinner's "handle".
I sort of hope the plastic will give before the screw head does!

I made one from this plan.
I believe you can even get flatbed vices in plastic.
Good enough for code 200 rail.

Chucking in my ha'penn'th... PDF double Fairlie, completed December last. The main kit came via evilbuy, and turned out to have many parts missing.
