Re: Static points, has anybody created a working set?
There wasn't much science involved! I've always been "into" tramways, and they make much use of single blade points, with one side being left open/fixed. Others posted some pics of this arrangement. The idea was that in the facing direction, vehicles would take the line of least resistance...

Scratch built on wood sleepers, and short-lived:- and one from Mamod track with Peco rail for "blades":- These all worked well for several years. Snags occurred when visitors felt the need to run wrong road. ...

Re: Static points, has anybody created a working set?
In my early days, around turn of century, I made extensive use of fixed points. Most were scratch-bodged form plain track split and joined. Before taking the Dremel to expensive points, see these pics:- These were made...

Re: RH parts advice
Andrew,
The valve gear link in the picture is purely cosmetic.
Perhaps the loco stopped because the loose link or the pony truck jammed.
Anyway, a phone call to Roundhouse will sort you out.

Re: Accucraft Lawley
Not much to add here, except that I found my Lawley, and the earlier Wrekin, a little unstable on some of my track. Curves of around 2'6" radius, in SM32 flexi-track, had some kinks, from knee-bending. The fully flanged wheels were unhappy. Eventually I turned the centre wheels to flangeless an...

As said above, it would run out of puff.
If there's no water, there's no steam.
No steam, no pressure!
Only heat damage to the metal.
Am I being too simple?

Found these lurking on my scrap shelf.
Been there a good ten years, & can't vouch for condition.
Yours if any use.

The Tramway & Light Railway Scty is worth a look.

Traditionally using 1/16 scale on 3½" gauge, there is now a section on 1/24 scale.

Re: Bowaters Models - 16mm Rolling Stock Kits
Thanks Jon,
Just ordered my next pair of WHR shorties.
Nearly completed the first, for evaluation.
Still finding it a little on the long side for my line.
Thinking of carving the open down to a 4w version to run mid-set.

Re: Joining code 200 bullhead to other stuff
Generally... I do say "generally"... A hacksaw slot close to the foot of the larger rail, will allow a fishplate/joiner of the smaller rail to slide in. Take care to position the slot so the rail heads are at the same level! This certainly works with Peco code 250 to LGB code 332. F...

A timely warning! Just considering ordering a couple of sets.
I know these things are not quick, NP do wait for enough orders to fill a sheet for etching.
Perhaps another order would jolly things along?

Re: Gauge 2
I recall reading that, of the numbered gauges system, gauge 2 had died an early death, being only a little larger than gauge 1.
Gauge 4 seems to have gone a similar way. A sad loss, as 5/8" scale equates to 16mm in modern terms.

Re: Etch primer and painting advice
I second that.
The data says for zinc & galvanised metals, such as steel. ie car body repairs.
Somewhere, I can no longer find, I once saw "will not adhere to brass".
I don't understand it's popularity.
