I really don't think I thought this question through at all... Now I've had these questions and comments plus a night's sleep under my belt, I realise that I am a moron and that if I had thought about it a bit more I would have the answer I was looking for. Sorry about this guys, I really do need to...

That's all I needed to know - I was simply curious as to whether it was possible or not, I didn't mean to cause any problems or anything. If I have offended anyone then I am sorry.

I know all that. That's not what I am getting at. I have a drawing of a 2.5" gauge locomotive. As far as I know there is no real-life standard gauge prototype to base it on. Someone just created it. What I want to know is how can I convert the measurements on the drawing to measurements suitabl...

Unfortunately using the "reduce" option on the photocopier will only reduce the size of the drawing. If only it were that simple :P I am talking about changing the measurements of a drawing so that they conform to 15mm scale instead of 2.5" gauge. I could work out the percentage I gue...

Scale Modelling

Okay so the title doesn't fit exactly but I couldn't think of what else to call this... Basically I bought myself a copy of Peter Jones' "Building Small Steam Locomotives" and inside there is an example of a locomotive I love the look of but as far as I know there are no actual drawing for...

Yeah if I were to do this, I would create a completely freelance line which would take inspiration from real-life, but would not be solely based upon it.

This is all very useful information, however. I thank you for it! If there's anything else you can think of, then please post! :D

Are there many companies that sell 15mm kits or models? Besides Accucraft American-outline models, of course. It seems to me that quite a lot of the models in this scale are scratch-built.

LGB track is 45mm is it not? And as for living in France, LGB is a German company so I am sure that it could be just as easily obtained in France as it is in this country. The same with Aristocraft track which is American-made so I cannot imagine there would be much difference in price from either h...

You can always work with 45mm track; it is easier to obtain and cheaper. It depends really on what you want to model. If you are looking to model a 2ft prototype, you would be advised to use 32mm track. Alternatively you can always upgrade to 7/8ths" scale and run on 45mm track to get the same ...

I've found Andrew Neales's "Industrial Narrow Gauge Album" on Amazon and have ordered it, along with two of his other books detailing the back catalogue of Hunslet and Bagnall narrow gauge locomotives :)

Modelling 3' Gauge

Continuing my slow descent into madness whilst trying to decide what I would actually like to do with a garden railway, I have been watching a lot of videos from the Ivo Peters collection and have taken an interest in the quite large number of 3' gauge lines that used to exist in Britain. I found th...
