Not sure who are the 'Big' secondhand traders,I can only think of one and that's Simon Whenmouth and I've always thought of his prices as very reasonable and I've had a coal fired loco from him and that was also reasonable.

Re: eBay madness
Yes that is bonkers, If you wanted one they do crop up for about 2K, there's something quite clunky and wrong with Roundhouse's version but can't put my finger on what it is.

Re: Roundhouse's new engine for 2020 and beyond
It's not without precedent in the UK as there was a Montreal built loco very similar that ran on the 3 foot gauge Holborough Cement works in Kent. That area would have put Wales in the shade as regards the number and variety of Narrow Gauge Lines, one line in Kent even had outside flanges on the 3Ft...

Re: Paint code for LNWR carriage plumb
The precision paints tinlet match is eactly what I did with trying to get GWR deep bronze green, I eventually found the code which is a BS381c range [224] and when I matched it with the Precision paint tin afterwards it was spot on. Forget RAL or any other modern paint code even when it 'looks' clos...

Thanks Steve, thats most kind, it just goes to show that if you don't know the proper name of something, no amount of searching on Google comes up with anything!

Re: Servo mounting brass rods
At last somebody is interested! Yes they are called Standoff Spacers used to mount PCB boards at various heights and they start at M3 and are hexagonal with a male and female thread at each end. I've found them in box sets or individually and they come in lots of useful lengths, beware of one partic...

Servo mounting brass rods
I've decided to put RC into my Superior and I notice that there are 4 threaded holes in the footplate for the reverser servo, looking at my L and B Lew which has a very neat RC set up by Track shack, they have used brass rods with bolts that fit in these holes and suspend the servo at the correct he...

Bowaters Buffer Housings for Accucraft Superior/Leader
I've finally got around to making the Buffer and housings for my Accucraft Superior, I had to do the mould again due to the two halves originally sticking together! They are cast in white metal with a CNC machined brass coupling hook, the master parts were produced using 3D CNC machining after an ex...

Re: eBay madness
No it's not and would probably just make that if the starting price was more reasonable, the trouble with these lady Anne's is that there are a lot of them and always the first to cast off when somebody wants to move on to something more exciting or has some resemblance to a real loco.

Typical of most 16mm modellers who haven't ever got around to mastering the black scary art of the spray gun.

Re: Accucraft Caradoc - Sir Caradoc
It's actually quite difficult to flag up something that you know is stolen that's for sale on ebay, I had a Lima Train set stolen on the way to me via Hermes couriers and now the item is for sale on Ebay with another £100 added on top which unsurprisingly is still for sale, but I would need proof th...

Re: eBay madness
I've never liked them anyway, wouldn't want to pay more than £600 personally, the only reason I would get one is to scrap the body and make a Bowaters Chevalier out of it.

Re: Applying custom lettering?
I use an ALPS printer to do my lettering which can print in white, gold and silver as well as the normal colours, although lately I'm having trouble finding good decal paper. A lot of them seem to now have a clear backing sheet which goes all stretchy once you slide the decal off the paper.

Re: eBay madness
This is a rare opportunity, must be a real tiddler as it's the 7mm O gauge version [ not Narrow gauge of course ] but one straight out of the Archangel brochure, needs a replacement dome but otherwise looks in good condition. remember if you bid on this it will double in price by the time you've pai...

So what's the green used on the Colonel Stephens livery? Nobody seems to know what the actual colour is used on the Ffestiniog railway today.
