Re: Learning how to 3D print loco parts

I am running the latest version of Win10 (1703) and 3D Builder is installed? It is in the Windows Store as well if you want to install it. Tom, It's strange. After I posted, I also looked at the Windows store to try downloading it but when I did it said I had it installed. I clicked on the link in ...

Re: Learning how to 3D print loco parts

James, I noted earlier in the thread that you used 3D Builder in Windows for your drawing work. I've never used that before so I thought I'd have play with it this morning to see how I got on. Unfortunately it no longer seems to exist!! Windows 10 did a mega "upgrade" ( took 2 hours in tot...

However, they have upped the price as I paid £320 only a few weeks back!

I have to say that I am very happy with it.
Thanks.
I'd guess the price increase has to do with the falling exchange rate!

Re: Learning how to 3D print loco parts

This printer is available from Amazon at around the £300 mark, Hi James, Thanks for the replies. I hadn't come across this manufacturer when I was looking before, so interested to see it. Which model do you have? You mention " around £300 " but there seem to be two models, one at ca. £400...

Looks good Rik.
An excellent example of using odd bits to make a representation of something, as we discussed some while ago.

Re: Rotten Track

I have succesfully used 5mm thick black Foamex as sleepering for turnouts. Its easy to cut into strips using a Stanley knife and a scrape with a saw blade gives a woodgrain effect to the surface. I've had one in situ outside for almost 5 years and its still fine. That one was bullhead rail using Ten...

That's interesting Phillip and pretty much mirrors my experiences. Keep us posted about your modification please as the year progresses. As requested, a quick update on things. To put it in a nutshell, so far it works! After 3 months everything is fine so far. Basically, I followed the instructions...

Re: Learning how to 3D print loco parts

James,
Thanks. I'm very interested in this. I've thought many times about getting a 3D printer myself and in fact my wife wanted to get me one for Christmas but I turned it down because I wasn't sure I could get to grips with it.

Which machine have you got?

Do keep updating your progress please.

Re: iMax B6 charger - starter guide

When I got my Imax it had a Hologram on the back that links to a website and confirms that it is a genuine Imax. Grant. I got mine from HobbyKing and it never entered my mind that it might be some kind of rip off. I've just looked and it does indeed have a hologram on the bottom ( not back) which s...

Yes please Rik, I have one on order and it looks horribly complicated. I have one and although I have to fight my way through the instructions every time I use it, and I switch it on with my heart in my mouth each time, in reality it isn't quite as bad as it looks. It's rather like a smart phone, i...

I'll see if I can track down some pb wire - there must be a supplier here somewhere.
Rik,
Try "Eileens Emporium" ( google it) . They sell all sorts of wire, metal, strip, tools, paints etc etc. Excellent mail order service.
