One thing you must do however is use a good quality hose / pipe to bridge the gap between loco and tender and make it so it doesn't come apart easily otherwise it will quite literally go up in flames.

And then there was more 00 track... This will have a shuttle function on it so I don't have to touch it when it's running.

The point has been locked off so little fingers can't mess with it with a track pin through the switch bar thing.

I did look at the Toy Story one but it lacks the rods from cylinder to lead driver and there's no tender. It's effectively a toy so it comes out much too big scale wise as well.

So after a long time of not being able to easily set a manual loco to plod around quite nicely I decided to take a sledge hammer to my track bed and level it... Seriously for those who are just starting to build their railways, get the track bed right the first time this is important or you'll end u...

There's not been a WW1 guide from the association and there isn't one planned unless someone wants to write it...
I can recommend WDLR Album for inspiration, its a great book filled with photographs.

So the long awaited day has come at last... "The Spanish Acquisition" has under gone running in (still a bit more to do) and once a small track discrepancy had been altered I can now say it goes round really well. https://scontent-fra3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/14265065_10155324561053902_608...

It's really not far off now... just a few more minor details like platform stuff and then it's pretty much done.

I do like the miniature railway, although if anyone is going to be sitting astride the brake van, the chimney might give a nasty surprise  That will be addressed in time... I'm looking for a cheap one of these: https://hattonsimages.blob.core.windows.net/products/54170-HD_3174795_Qty1_1.jpg so...

A few pics of it outdoors. It's not a light module... it's bloomin heavy and that's with the sump empty. ./myff/2008572/14068070_10155287767538902_4265841656954646027_n.jpg ./myff/2008573/14102416_10155287767733902_724024759876235797_n.jpg ./myff/2008574/14102543_10155287767783902_386634600204513417...

If it's not raining I could do... means emptying the sump of water first otherwise its rather heavy.

It still needs grass of some sort and is still a WIP.

I'm not really sure but in terms of scale it could be either for example: ./myff/2008414/DSC01025.JPG This is the Cagney... its really small on 15" gauge and would be quite happy on 12.5" or 10.25" gauges. It was also built to run on 16" gauge. Locos used on it will be of no part...

Without a paddle...

So for a few years now there has been a modular layout at the National Garden Railway show in Peterborough. I've always liked the idea of making my own module to go into the layout but my wood working skills aren't the best so making a module from scratch (for the time being) was out of the question...
