Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Constantly thinking about what to do next my eyes gazed upon an item which I have shown in the past. This is something I decided not to modify, but time has a habit of changing things and so I set about it as my latest project.... IMG_3128.JPG It is the VW camper van, which I have seen real-life pho...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
For various reasons (excuses) I have been unable to give you the final images of the Kerr Stuart built, Hunslet overhauled loco, which now runs as Edward Thomas on the Talyllyn Railway. The Boot Lane Works kit enables the builder to choose which version to make as parts are included for both. As pre...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Phew!!! camera returned and tested, everything seems to be back in order. So, now for something different: A friend mentioned a new(ish) model railway magazine he had recently purchased and that I was included in it. The title is, 'Let's Go Railway Modelling' and is a Peco publication dated 2023. No...

Early editions of 16mm Today magazines
For sale.... a small collection of eight, early editions, 16mm Today magazines from February 1995 to February 1997. Numbers 71 to 79 (minus No. 76 unfortunately). These are in used condition but clean and intact. An interesting insight into garden railway modelling of that period. They contain lots ...

Wilko's will be missed for such trivial items as rattle cans but I get my Hycote satin black from 'The Range' for a reasonable price. They stock primers, lacquers and limited paint colours. There is a list on-line of locations for all 180 branches nationwide.

A really cracking job Bertie, and a beautiful finish too.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Thanks guys, you are all stars! Apologies for my incorrect identification of the port, I know nothing of these things! This afternoon I managed to take my laptop to a repair shop in town as he has done jobs for me previously. He immediately discovered the problem and reset the chip (?) which should ...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I do have an update on the battery situation after all this time. Component Shop are still showing 'no stock' of many of their battery products but have supplied me with individual tagged AAA low self discharge batteries which are now made into a single eight pack, (4 square + 4 square) which fit in...

Another wonderfully adapted kit from Scum Class Works. You always go the extra mile, and it shows in the detailing.

Re: What kind of traction engine is this?
From here in the UK it is impossible to imagine the vastness of the USA Great Plains, but I have to wonder about the thought process of building a machine so big it takes an army of up to 30 operators, an engineering team with lifting equipment to assemble and maintain, and a back-up haulage system ...

Re: Building an 0-4-0 outside frame tank loco
I totally agree with your comment Andrew and I work in a similar way, usually using epoxy adhesive etc... From my experience with attaching plastikard to plastikard using solvent, even on large section such as structures, I have found solvent works well enough on its own.
