Re: Clatterbach Valley Light Railway
Hi CSL, First thing, great to hear your 5yr old is getting stuck in and I think they've got a good eye, I quite like the back to back bench there but maybe that's because I like the chap who's checking out the back of the mamod. Steam raising areas are handy, gives you somewhere to splash oil about ...

Re: Clatterbach Valley Light Railway
:wav: Brilliant CSL, so glad you decided to post some pictures up after hearing so much about it. Love the railway, I think I mentioned before but I'm a sucker for a good viaduct and love the curves coming off it. I think thats where I would sit with a wee dram to watch the world and trains run by, ...

Re: Millie's new clothes
Sorry all for the late reply, I've been away on hols. I completely agree Artfull Dodger, it is a great entry loco and very glad I bought it. As you say the bodywork is steel and not brass, which isn't a problem but there are two cab screws which keep undoing themselves which is a little annoying :cu...

Re: Intentional bumps
Videoing station stops is tricky I know CSL, but that's why I put a ;) in my post  . However that's your mission if you choose to accept it!! At least you have a railway and I'm envious of that, so don't hesitate to post some pics or vids, especially when you mention a viaduct. No matter how b...

Hi Tom,
Speed of assembly I guess, and being a basic series there's little need for finesse.

Re: IP Engineering L&B Short Coaches
Hi Ian, I've just spotted this post and have measured my L&B short coach. You assume correctly and the widest point is between the footboards @ 115mm. The main body measures 96mm. Cracking little kits but I made the cardinal sin first time round and followed the instructions and completed the ki...

Re: Intentional bumps
Just remember CSL that the Millie doesn't have a fire tube through the boiler so it can hold more water than Berti's boiler. I think getting 35min out of your Berti is remarkable! Would love to see a video of your track at some point, especially with a stop ;) . I've searched your posts but haven't ...

Millie's new clothes
I've been inspired by the Peckett-ised Millie and I've been thinking of doing something similar. There are a couple of aspects of the Millie bodywork that annoys me, pop rivets being one if them, and the way it assembles and disassemble itself. So has anyone got any ideas of what I could model given...

Re: Intentional bumps
Hi CSL, It was exactly that kind of situation that made me think about it. My little Millie stops reliably at the same spot on my mates track (I'm yet to have my own track :( ). Although his track is built for rc so big gradients and when the Millie has finished having a brew up it does then rocket ...

Re: Cliff Barker track
Hi Andrew,
Thanks again for such a thorough explanation . Well that's decision made then, I'll be joining you in using Cliff's track, just have to finalise the track design. I hope the track laying team does nothing to put your teeth on edge

Re: Cliff Barker track
Hi Tom, That makes perfect sense, very interesting about the firmer hold over the peco fish plates. Thank you for posting the picture :thumbleft: , I completely agree, they do look very smart and it's really helpful to see them attached to track. Although Mr Barkers website is very informative it's ...

Re: Cliff Barker track
Hi Tom, Thanks for the recommendation on the fish plates, that's one thing I haven't even started to think about. What were you reasons for opting for them over all the other types? Hi Andrew, Thanks for such a comprehensive review on the track, you have helped the decision making process much easie...

Cliff Barker track
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone is using Mr Barkers track and points, and could offer a review?
I was hoping he might have a stand at Peterborough so I could see it in the flesh but it doesn't look like he's attending.

Re: The Rylston Light Railway (Mark 2)
Hi Andy, I too was completely taken in by the first two photos in this post, the penny only dropped with the later picture of Tom and even then I had to go back and check. Far from Boring!! I for one would be very interested to read more about your track design. I'm sketching out ideas at the moment...

Re: Intentional bumps
Hi Phillip and CSL, Please don't get me wrong I completely understand the benefits of RC. Watching friends shunt and power up inclines and then back off, I do get it. However I'd rather stick with manual control, try to build a level railway (my friends track is built with hills for RC locos) and ju...

Re: Intentional bumps
Thanks Tom for the video link. I'm hoping not to introduce large changes in heights, 99% on the level just have a couple of bumps. As for curves I'm thinking of using 38" radius settrack which I hope will be smooth enough? Hi Rik, I never really thought about it but of course your right. I grew...

Re: Intentional bumps
Thanks for the suggestion and advice Tom. I know what you mean, I have noticed that on my friends track, once it builds up pressure it does then rocket off. I wondered if this was caused by the very steep and sudden change in the track bed, and whether a small bump would have the desired pausing eff...

Intentional bumps
Hi all. After a lot of research, a lot on here, I'm now the proud owner of a Millie and very happy with it. I've been running it in on a friend's railway and now that it's behaving at a scale speed I noticed something, there are three places (on a little bumps) where my train pauses, has a brew up a...
