Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

For me, I love the encroaching foliage just begining to meet between the rails, and also the guard taking in the fresh air on the verandah of his van. Fantastic atmosphere!

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Good afternoon everyone! Well, I've just come back indoors after a couple of days graft on the railway during a weekend possession. There have been further developments around Hollycross Station and the Junction after deciding to forge ahead with an idea that's been 'bubbling around' for bit. So, wh...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

Superb bit of video, reminds me of the steam special videos on YouTube showing the well patronised carriages and the lights reflecting outside. Shame it wasn't a longer film but understandable. Brrrr!.....

Re: IP Engineering freelance carriages

IMG_20190405_162422.jpg My IP coach rake. I used thin ply for the roof in place of the plastic card provided. I used 3 or 4 elastic bands with some thin planks between the roof and rubber bands to hold everything till the glue went off. The van is also an IP WD van which I altered to a curved roof ...

Gorgeous model, looks a real beast and captures the look superbly, but it'd look better in malachite green..... Fantastic!

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Another little development! The decommissioned branch has been reinstated, albeit only the first few feet for now. Using the last few bits of Filcris I had to hand, I laid in the junction and a basic framework to lay the top section of the branch towards the rest of the garden. It falls away at 1 in...

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Thank so much Andrew, it was a nice couple of hours. The various liveries add a bit of 'railway' colour I feel, and the Binnie skips and bolster wagons have all got the Roy Wood (RWM) steel replacement wheelsets fitted. So much better having the bit of added weight and they sound great over track jo...

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Afternoon peeps! Been a groggy old day hereabouts but I wanted to do a bit more tweaking to the railway to iron out the last few anomalies on the permanent way, so out came the tools and a few odd bits to use as packing. After an hour's crawling about and eye levelling, it was time to get a loco out...

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Thank you everyone, good to be back in the group and hopefully make more progress soon. Andrew, I decided to go with an approximation of ex BR steam era liveries, lots of colour choices that way and the coaches are quite impressive in a rake or as part of a mixed passenger/goods train. I like the fa...

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

https://youtu.be/V3WkRGf8rBI https://youtu.be/5lqeEFu-Yuk I think that should work! Note that the hump before the crossing has since been removed, and also, that trains don't normally run so fast but I was so enthralled I didn't notice that as steam pressure increased, so did the speed! Also note, t...

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Greetings all!! Back from the wilderness and almost fighting fit but raring to go too!. Had to take a sabbatical from most things Hollycross due to a hiccup with my health, but the last weekend saw some much awaited progress although possibly in a reverse direction at the moment. The railway has had...

Re: IP Coach Kits

I have a rake of IP's Beginners freelance coaches, built exactly 'as per' except for the Guards/Luggage van which has window bars, and all have kitchen roll applied to the roof with diluted PVA glue to represent felt. They were a pleasure to assemble with no problems whatsoever and despite a a relat...

Nice piece of polished timber and a great example of industrial heritage, but a bit limited for get many seats round it without bruising your knees!
