Re: SM TODAY Magazine
Mine has arrived, as has the NGR society mags.
I haven't read Garden Rail that arrived in the week or the Church Times.
An afternoon with a pot of tea and the periodicals I think.

Sorry to hear of the close encounters with the NHS.
The coach looks fantastic.

I hope it all goes well for you.
I hope to avoid the pitfalls of an unsuitable garden when we move again. I have found myself at times looking at the parsonage and its garden/out buildings first before even considering the parish profile.

Re: The Coverdale Light Railway
I wonder if the old chestnut about planning a holiday being half the fun applies to garden railways?
I take my hat off to you Sir, the amount of thought and critical reasoning that has gone into this project is impressive.

Re: Regauge wheels
The heat from a hair dryer can be enough to soften things without burning things.
I like the idea of jacking apart but I think I would initially go down the brute force and ignorance route and try and pull the wheels apart and down the axle while twisting a little.

Re: They Shall Not Grow Old
A Dick-Kerr was featured in quite a long shot. I found it fascinating, 90 mins has never passed so quickly. I know the B/W film from the time is real, but seeing it coloured and enhanced made it seem much more real than ever before, the voices were spot on. Not to overstated but just enough to add t...

I don't think so.
I will have to check in the pile of unopened post, I have a feeling it should be due around now.

Re: They Shall Not Grow Old
BBC2 tonight at 2130hrs.
I have taken two Rememberance services this morning and I am off in a few minutes to take number three.
I think an evening in front of the tellybox with a few bottles of brown ale and a bag or two of marmite crisps has been well earned.

Re: Is it me?
Rod, I have partaken of Bury Black Puddings on many an occasion and indeed they are excellent.
Re: Is it me?
As you are near Cardiff I can recommend the butchers on the market (first on the left as you go in). They do some of the best BP I have ever eaten and a thing called Tiger Bay Pudding which is divine.
Re: Is it me?
I don't know about it starting in June but I remember doing a Rhine cruise many years ago and the boat moored up for a visit where they had a "Christmas Shop" that was open all the year round! I can't remember the name of the town where it was located but it's quite well known and I sure ...

Another one to try.Busted Bricks wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2018 9:54 am Almost forgot - it's also quite common to put apple sauce on the black pudding.
I can report that black pud with syrup is rather pleasant, my local cafe now has another reason to wonder about me.

I think I will try this tomorrow, thanks.

Re: Is it me?
In answer to the original question, I don't find it particularly disrespectful. I do think it is far to early to even think about Christmas though. I am not sure about the argument regarding people buying Christmas stuff so early. If the shops did not sell it, then people would not be buying it. I h...
Re: Is it me?
We don't do mince pies in Denmark. First time I tasted one in UK I was a bit confused because I assumed it would contain mince meat :D We eat some fairly weird stuff though in the region I'm from. Kale which has been boiled in stock is then fried lightly in a pan and has cream and sugar added. We a...

Brilliant, both of you.
I tried saving wildlife a few years ago.
I saved a badger that had been hit by a car for several months.
It did go a bit smelly and liquid so I had to throw it out.
