Good start, and a nice open area to work with. Can't go wrong. :D

Re: The GRR - A Look back

The SL1 and Hunslet make a really nice pairing. What I'm about to suggest may well be heresy, but what about converting the Mamod to battery electric operation?
Also quite like what you've done with the edging roll, too.

Hell of a job, Can't envy you that. Would offer to come help if I lived in Sydney. Some well thought-out design changes though. :thumbleft:

Jimmyb wrote: Wed May 05, 2021 2:40 pm Currently I am moving to Microns MR001a and Fosworks ESC-160, about the same price and no soldering. It is what I am fitting in my IP Engineering Railbus, a couple of bugs needed fixing but should be as good as the Rx 6X, and up to 24 volts.
That'll work! Cheers, I'd best get saving, then.. :D

Re: Transmitter/receiver compatibility

Would have to agree with Steve, on that. Deltang is simple enough for me to understand, and involves no touch-screens, or spotty and expensive Australian internet to use. I can only imagine the voracious demand for Deltang gear when Micron's replacements become available, though I would imagine that...

Looks great, Jimmy. Again, love the colour. Long as you like it, that's all that matters. Good to hear it's running in nicely. I wonder how much a fully run-in Fowler could pull.. :study:

Re: Imperial Hotel - a Queenslander pub

Thanks, real pleased with the result. Looking forward to making it a centerpiece on the next tramway.. The pub's lights won't be properly connected up here, but they and other buildings will be next time; likely on a timer so they're visible every night. I do have a 12V SLA battery going spare thoug...

Re: Imperial Hotel - a Queenslander pub

01/05/20 With the fascia lettered (it passes the 3ft test, at least) and paintwork touched up, the pub is very close to completion. I need only apply Tamiya's flat clear enamel to the letters, and fit the roof with mastic sealant, after pre-emptively poisoning the interior for when (not if) the ants...

Or fit a bell-crank between the cylinders, and situate a servo further back, attached to a frame stretcher?

Re: Mamod SP2 stationary engine loco conversion

I don't think my table clamp (Clarke) is good enough for precision work. One of the jaws (the moving one) has some up-and-down movement in it, meaning when a part is clamped in it, one edge is lifted up slightly, which may be the problem. Mine is that way, too. Having ruined several parts with it, ...

Re: Further Improvements to a Roundhouse Fowler

Thanks again. I'm finding that starting a shot slightly zoomed in, often makes the photo of video look more like a 1:1 scale shot. Could be something to do with the field of view, but then I've yet to seriously look into home film-making. Looking forward to making "videos of "proper" ...

Re: Further Improvements to a Roundhouse Fowler

Tested "Victoria" on Thursday and Friday. Had the usual troubles filling the gas tank. You'd think it's warm enough in this country to not require pre-heating a brand-new gas can for every fill. Clearly something isn't right, but it happens with all three locos I've steamed since...
