I have learned that having some sort of layout is better than none at all and it's very satisfying to build because it does not feel like a massive job that you will never finish! I spent ages trying to fit the 'dream' OO layout in the loft, however, without an expensive conversion it just was not g...

Last railway holiday thing I did was a couple of years back staying in a caravan park near the RHDR where I discovered they have a 'refreshments coach' ;) http://www.rhdr.org.uk/rhdr/stock/stock_art/gladys.jpg Incidentally, in the latest 16mm TODAY there is an ad for staying in holiday cottages in D...

I would keep it as you will not get back what you paid for it and OO is still fun in the winter months. I got into DCC a while back with sound and it really gives this scale a new lease of life. Besides, you will one day want to model/build something and these kind of things always come in useful! C...

Hi yes the motor can be mounted top side as long as it's fixed down securely otherwise the point throw will just drag the motor with it
I got mine from my usual supplier http://www.dccsupplies.com/

Hi James, I am in the process of going down the scale ballast route and although expensive the samples I have had from 'Modellers Mate' so far are brilliant. Have a look at their site: http://www.modellersmate.co.uk/ Send Nick an email with your address and he will send some examples in the post to ...

Thanks guys point taken :) Just seem to be getting hit more and more by the realism bug! I was not able to find the fishplates on the Tenmille site, however, these looks great: http://www.cliffbarker.talktalk.net/gauge1products.html If have to scroll down a fair way or just search for the words 'pla...

Realistic fishplates?
Does anyone know of a supplier either plastic/metal of prototypical fishplates as shown for Peco SM-32 track or similar please? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/25/Fishplate_on_Bluebell_Railway.jpg I have no need to use the standard Peco fishplates as my track will not be powered. Could th...

is that a Fulgarex Tortoise point machine? Sorry, yes it is a Fulgarex point motor. I have used Tortoise for OO, however, the Fulgarex was mentioned in another forum and seems to be alright (does not stick out for miles under the trackbed either) despite reviews from people saying they are not up t...

Thanks Narrow Minded for my only positive response on this idea so far ;) If it's going outdoors and if (as I suspect) the motor is underneath, then this could cause a whole LOAD of problems!! Problems are to be solved my dear fellow and I have resolved them (well I think anyway!) The motor is mount...
