Work has been hinder due to, well work and DIY, however, the whistle is now fitted: /myff/tom_tom_go/SANY0487.jpg In a previous post I ask about blackening wheels and this process I have now done on my guards van which is in the same pic. Painting RH wheels
I want to paint the sides of the wheels (not the part that actually makes contact with the rails) on my SL.
I would rather not take the running gear apart to do this so can I just gives the wheels a wipe with white spirit and then paint them using enamels with a brush?
Cheers,
Tom

Freelance flat wagon
As a sideshow to my work on my SL (see post 'Changing of a Lady' in 'Projects') I was building a coach kit, however, it dwarfed all my rolling stock so I am now converting to a wagon for goods: /myff/tom_tom_go/SANY0449.jpg /myff/tom_tom_go/SANY0448.jpg /myff/tom_tom_go/SANY0447.jpg /myff/tom_tom_go...

Tom, it's looking good. I was surprised how shortening the front buffer beams changes the character of the engine. Mine was a bit of a quicky job compared to yours! And I still have the bits of liquorice coal! The weathering on your loco Ian is brilliant so you do yourself no justice by saying you ...

Here is my first guard's van (and 16mm kit) I ever built: /myff/tom_tom_go/weather376.jpg It's an IP kit although I have done a fair few mods and kitted the interior out. I also built a new chassis as it does not come with metal axle boxes. The lights works as I put a LED in it and it uses a CMOS ba...

Hi Mike, Have you fitted a blow down system like you get on the Accucraft loco's or is it just a different lubricator drain plug so as you say they don't burn their hands? I think that's the only thing missing from current Roundhouse loco's as it's great at the end of the run to blow down and watch ...

DO NOT PAINT MATCH for the paint creeping!!!!!!!!! you will ruin your nice gloss finish If you have used enamel or celulose get some paint thinners and carefully rub the paint away. Afterwards you can use washing up liquid to wash the thinners away. You can then use a resin based car polish to poli...
