Re: Fn3 and SM45
This can be very confusing among my models I have an LBSC Terrier and a GWR Dock Tank both in 7mm scale both fairly accurate. However the Terrier looks for all the world as though it is to a smaller scale. I use 16mm on 32 mm track but I am less sure about the bought in models. I haven't measured u...

Re: Built up my new Regner Paul tram kit
Regner are lovely geared locomotives, but I don't think you're alone in having problems lighting up. Most of my friends who have or have had one seem to go through issues on light up. Looks like you've made a great job of that!

Re: A very, very, narrow gauge railway!
An interesting set up. Apparently the whole collection has now been moved to the Tanat Valley Light Railway near Oswestry https://www.tanatvalleyrailway.co.uk/monorail , and whilst the website describes the set up, other comments elsewhere online suggest it is not being progressed beyond an 1/8th mi...

Re: Zach Bond "Momentum Van" project
After I bought my first steam locomotive in 2014, I found Zach's article about the momentum van, and like many, I decided to have a go with a Zecar friction drive. I constructed a goods van freelance from plasticard, scored to give the plank effect, and scaled to suit the Zecar chassis (a bit squat ...

Re: A Light Railway for the Western Dales
Just to finish about the pottery, this is the bottle kiln today. Looking decidedly ragged, and some of the lower blocks have parted company - I think thanks to birds foraging for insects etc. The pale edges are a result of friction from nearby bushes and plants. Considering it's been exposed to the ...

I really do need to come and see plus run something on your line Phil. I love :love10: the kiln. You do have a brilliant imagination and brilliantly built and painted also. Thank you Rod, I sometimes think people who see the railway often need to have some imagination too  You will be welcome ...

Re: A Light Railway for the Western Dales
Brilliant Phil! Presumably Messrs Harding, Robinson and Aston are modelled in Das or similar? That is some amazing scuplting technique. Philip, I can claim no credit for the moulding of the figures, they are from Pendle Valley, who I believe have taken over Rob Bennett's moulds. I did however, pain...

Re: A Light Railway for the Western Dales
I can't believe it's been 4 years since I contributed to this thread about my line, but I'm going to try to make amends, and by necessity that means much of this is catch up. The initial spur for the railway was the alleged Housedown Pottery, outside Black Burton. Keen enthusiasts set to building a ...

Been a while, but with the nicer weather gradually upon us I can reveal two wagons: Firstly, another NWNGR 4t wagon by Jurassic: IMG This is lightly weathered using drybrushing, inks and lightly sanding the red down. This gives a decent, 4 wagon train without needing slate waggons. Also a 2 plank w...

Your railway looks really delightful in a mature garden setting. It really complements the garden, and vice versa. Mine feels very open and exposed in comparison!

Fantastic report, does he get a chance to ride a train somewhere? I'm sure Mr Mainwaring (Captain, retired) has an excursion planned for the inspector. There are other stations and engineering features to look at yet. And he is keen to develop a good working relationship with the light railway insp...

After a fine cooked breakfast and excellent service from Mrs. Twice-Knightley, I was collected from mons repose at 0900 precisely for my return trip to Black Burton Station, arriving in good time for my meeting with the senior staff of the GWLR. I made my way to Platform 1, where Mr Mainwaring (Capt...

I'm not too hot at infrastructure and scenery – but I was pleased with it. And it's good fun doing the GIFs[/b][/size] Rural Dorset appears to be running very smokey locomotives or suffering shocking levels of industrial pollution. And not repainting bridges often enough. I got a bit carried away. ...

Re: Weak Bachmann Lyn motor
Congratulations on getting this far Rik. I can't offer any expert advice on positioning/meshing of worm gearing, but from my model boating days, I used to extend motor shafts by fitting an 'interference fit' piece of brass tubing over the exposed motor shaft, and then used the OD of that tubing to s...
