Re: Meanderings in Dorset and Devon
I guess also you may have some ideas from your visit to the Burlesdon Brickworks Railway. Hi Rod I was fascinated by the brickworks. Firstly by how uncomplicated the process is and secondly by how they mechanised the process using steam power. I'll do some research. I'm not sure how close the neare...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
It is a mix of sharp sand and cement in the ratio 4:1. There is no budgie grit in it - the sharp sand used has some grit in it already. The sand is Kelkay build mate sharp sand and was picked up at my local garden centre. Thanks. Must see what sort of sand they have at our local garden centre. I us...

Meanderings in Dorset and Devon
The results of recent ambling around Dorset and Devon. To clarify, when I retired I set myself the challenge of visiting every narrow gauge and miniature railway in the UK and Ireland. When I discovered there were over 500, I restricted myself to those of 12" gauge or over. - which still gave m...

Re: Bottle Creek Tramway
Great shots and video. Am I right in thinking this is a reduction on the railway as it used to be?

I like the look of the concrete mix. Have you included some budgie grit to get that finish?

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
The rolling stock is looking good. I think having a unifying livery is a good way of getting a range of different wagons to look good together. Congratulations on your first scratchbuild - it looks really good. Glad I was able to help encourage you to have a go.
Great looking railway, btw.

Hey, I can top that! My one and only A Level was in Technical Drawing (Grade C). Quite useful for marking-up but not a whole lot of use for anything else these days with CAD.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Just catching up after a few days away without internet. Those photos of the village after the rain shower are so realistic, Peter. The sheen on the pavement really adds to the atmosphere. The positioning of the buildings and colouring looks so natural. Hats off to you sir, not only for your modelli...

Re: W&LLR Brake Van (Lineside Hut kit)
I've been following the build with interest. A fascinating insight into how to kitbuild with finesse. I'm not sure I have the dexterity or expertise (or sufficiently unchubby fingers) to handle such delicate parts, but the way you have documented the build does help to inspire.

Great British Bake Off for model trains. The recipe Appoint a panel of judges, only one of whom knows something about the topic; make sure there are some 'characters' in the teams; give the teams challenges which include a high probability of failure; edit the footage to include at least one tantru...

Re: Great Model Railway Challenge - Ch5 tonight
Well. It wasn't quite as toe curling or excruciating as I was expecting. However, I do question the current editorial values of programme makers which makes the assumption that audiences' attention spans are restricted to 10 seconds and we are unable to absorb and process information at levels of co...

Went on the Kandytoys site myself….You need to have a minimum order of £2000… :sad11: There having a laugh. I think I'll pass on that. Seen these on Amazon though….Don’t know if they would help, only thing is if you bought more then 2, they would be looking all the same way……….. https://www.amazon....

Great Model Railway Challenge - Ch5 tonight
Does anyone know anything about this? http://www.channel5.com/show/the-great-model-railway-challenge/ It looks like it will be another reality show trivialisation - no doubt they will home in on anyone who appears slightly nerdy to take the proverbial..... Or am I just getting cynical in my old age?...

Great history so far. I do like a good back story. That lettering looks spot on! Looks too regular for Letraset - bespoke transfers?
