The safety valve is designed to release pressure at a set point, keeping your boiler from exploding (bursting basically) The calibrating is the setting of the safety valve to lift at the requir...

Another bargain picked up yesterday in York, a box of 8 MAMOD straights, couple of broken tabs but they'll make display bases, sold to the salivating chap for £5!

Andrew, I.P. do a range of freelance kits specifically aimed at the slightly larger Accucraft loading gauge, from memory the coach kits finish at 155mm. I posted recently in the Rolling Stock forum, see Growing Collection, some photos of said stock, almost completed and posed with my Accucraft Lawle...

I'd like to see Dylan revived, that was one lovely looking loco in its own right and would also be an ideal candidate for a 7/8ths conversion

I've had exactly the same earlier this year, paid within minutes of the auction ending, got a confirmation email from PayPal, followed minutes later by another email from them telling I'd been refunded because the sellers PayPay account wasn't 'verified'. So same thing but a different reason. Appare...

Too true Tony, I'm always scouring charity shops, flea markets etc and the net for bits. One of the other sets of photos show my O gauge collection. That started when the wife rang from school, she's a teacher, and said someone had brought in 'a big train set' for a stall at the Summer Fayre. Did I ...

Yes, the Lawley did indeed come from a charity shop! I had to accept it was sold without any sort of warranty, and wait half an hour before a price came back from wherever, but even though I then agreed to pay a bit more than what was 'suggested' , it turned out to be an absolute bargain at less tha...

Growing Collection!

A few photos of my rapidly growing stock. Most of the stock are IP kits, many still needing extra work, but I'm getting there as time permits. The line has passed the planning stage but construction is still to begin, though any work in the garden recently has given consideration to the railway infr...

Brian, I also like to rotate my nuts!... The aforementioned 'Lazy Susan', x 2. They were snapped up on eBay for £2.60 with a turntable in mind. The larger one is 20" across!! Each has 6 or 8 nylon bearings between the inner and outer ring and after a squirt of WD40 they spin like good 'uns'! ./...

Beach Shingle

You could set the loose shingle edge with yacht varnish. It will flow into the shingle (just use something to temporarily form an edge) then will set hard, locking any loose shingle. Any that shows through will give the impression on the tide coming in!

Ragleth problem

When running my Ragleth, she runs fine forwards, but when in reverse, as soon as the regulator is opened, she merely sits there amidst a cloud of steam which appears to be (leaking?) from between the cylinders directly beneath the smokebox. Any clues would be more than welcome, Thanks in advance! :c...
