Re: Binnie Tub Body
The chassis came out ok, some tweaks as I printed the base in 3 sections. The axle is also a little short, as I made the chassis a little wide, so it wobbles a little. But I guess these did anyway ;) Sat next to a standard Binnie Skip for comparison. https://i.postimg.cc/cL36FLmB/20210429-131817.jpg...

Re: Binnie Tub Body
Doesn't look too bad. On my printer a little support would have helped, the print isn't clean underneath the curves.
I'll attack it with a file, sandpaper and primer later.
I'm also seeing if I can reliably print a chassis for it. It's on the printer at the moment!

I do agree.. Maybe for my second live steam loco . I'd like to get something running quickly, then I can take my time with the next one.

Re: Cleaning up 3D prints
Yuck!
I'd fill that big hole to start with! Then the rest I'd go at it with quite a big file, try and smooth off. Then halfords filler primer sanded back a few times should really help, I use it all the time.

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Really enjoyed that with my morning coffee :) More please... You are going to make me go away and think about how my little railways runs, I'm sure I can develop it to do something similar. Question though, do you have a table in the middle of the lawn with 20 remotes, the psion, cup of tea and the ...

Re: The GRR - A Look back
She is a very old Mamod.. I've kind of decided that I'd have more pleasure with Bertie or even a Katie at this stage. Maybe one day I'd strip her down again and replace more parts, but I don't really have the time or the experience yet.

Re: First Steam Loco
How about dragging up my old thread? I didn't ever buy a loco. The plan as was last year to spend about 1k on a simple loco with remote control. For that price though, I'm happy to give up reverse from the remote. As I figure without a slowmo fitted, it's not like I'm shunting anyway! I'm going to t...

Re: The GRR - A Look back
A couple more pictures to show the completion of the loop. We worked really hard to get a loop up and running fairly quickly. It was at this point that I found out the Mamod wasn't up for the job. Not making around a loop, stopping on the curves, or running so fast down the back section that it woul...

Re: The GRR - A Look back
Our railway started as a simple loop at the bottom of the garden. I was able to get some points and peco track second hand which kicked started the project. Using the old Mamod track for the two ends of the curve and the peco track for the main section and a simple station loop and siddings. The lin...

The GRR - A Look back and Forward..
I've been going through and sorting all the 100s of pictures I'd taken during the few years of my railway. With all the amazing posts on here I thought it might be time to share a short history with you, if you would like to read it. It's my first project and a simple line for us to enjoy as a famil...

Re: Generic Chassis
I added a gap in the middle to take some lead weight I had kicking around. 20210420_171133.jpg Then head stock and magnetic couplers added. 20210421_194156.jpg I've already planned version 2. I want to add some guides to clip it together, I made the headstock too short so the coupling is off the bot...

Generic Chassis
Morning.. I'm very new to 3D printing, had the printer about 2 weeks. But, a very long time ago I did enjoy design and tech, so loving getting back into this! Using Rik's amazing guide on tinker cad I got up and running quite quickly to build a few of my own projects. My idea was to build a generic ...
