Re: The G&DLR begins.
You're very much welcome. So, finally.... the track side of things are done. I've added a pass strip to the LGB R1 point that was causing the most problems. This seems to have eliminated the derailments here. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50249424277_bc2c1497a1_c.jpg In addition to that, I nee...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Thank you chaps. It's been a difficult few months but we're working through it. As for modelling matters the bridge itself was completely scratch built using scrounged PVC foamex (or something similar). The photos below show the main building processes. The rivets were just some resin jewels with ge...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
It's been too long. A lot has happened since my last post, lock down...a new (much better paid) job, my mum took seriously ill and we're working our way through it. Will everything I mind, I made a big push to getting the line sorted out. The bridge is now complete. I've aptly named it, 'Lock Down b...

Re: Disasters, Out-takes, Accidents, Fails etc.
On my old line, the curves were sharp, the inclines steep and the pansies too close to the track.

That's lovey bit of kit.
I have two Aristocraft 0-4-0 switchers of which one will represent a 2ft 9in gauge USA Tank and the other I'm planning to make into a narrow gauge version of the Ivatt 4MT.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been well, even more sorry the line has had to come back up. I know your pain in that respect.
Looking forward to seeing what magic you can pull out of your hat with this new garden.

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock
The rebuilding begins. Originally I had glues the coal yo represent full rakes. In hindsight I realised thus was a mistake as I like empty stock as well as full rakes. So the plan is to completely revote my stock once again. I'm removing the vacuum braking from the coal Wagons and giving them to fut...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
You're most definately not, I think it was foamex or HIP, one or the other. It was stuff I found at the back of my workplace and took (after asking). I had made plans on A3 graph paper of the bits I needed to cut out and went about reproducing the plans to the board including the masonry. Then it wa...

Some more progress on the tunnel. Managed to get some planting done. I'll always say the last bit of planting before the winter but I'm a bit of a plant addict. 72310487_420047562045139_2081061274392723456_n.jpg 73245961_420047602045135_7962500128445562880_n.jpg 71925504_420047675378461_917622522736...

Braved the elements to install the 'Rainbow Tunnel' and how the line will look once the track is in place. 71843674_417188982330997_8738435371181801472_n.jpg 71691460_417188955664333_5362327133605593088_n.jpg 72433441_417189028997659_7351226651868397568_n.jpg This is a better refinement of the pictu...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Cheers chaps, yeah stone work is an unusual one. Especially that stonework varies incredibly no matter where you go. As I'm basing my line on the NYMR aesthetic I find the stonework there very brown and beige, helped a lot by the years of steam and general weathering. I'm not entirely sure of the pa...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Cheers mate. I know the feeling, tbh my style of weathering always a bit hairy at first, even in 4mm. It all starts off looking sub par or even less that introductory level but the real secret is to make it gaudy at first then add an initial wash of black and brown based paints followed by further w...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Aye, I'm making sure that the way this line is built (like my previous one) can be taken apart in a few day with little to show afterwards although it looks otherwise. I haven't much to report on the line building, the track has been put down temporarily to see if it still works then taken back up a...
