Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Morning all, As per Tom's request, here's Russell, fuelled, oiled and ready to go at Clarach... 12th April 2020 1.jpg And here's its train, waiting patiently at Trefechan. For no reason other than I fancied seeing what it looked like, it's an all-red train today: 12th April 2020 2.jpg I'm not sure h...

Re: Double Heading at Summerlands
Welcome back Chris! And thanks for sharing a lovely film... It's a great combination of locos and stock, and the primroses are looking beautiful. I particularly liked the shot of the train leaving the tunnel at 2:50, and the one at 3:04 where you can really hear both engines working hard... All the ...

Re: (WH)WHR Buildings
Hello! An afternoon in the garden saw some work done to bed the tunnel into its surroundings and prepare the site for the signalbox. Three slate tiles were cemented in to create a sort of rock face/retaining wall in front of the line on the upper level, a base created for the 'box, and the beginning...

Re: (WH)WHR Buildings
Afternoon all - it's a lovely day here in the UK... The signal box is getting there, with the second of two coats of green paint having gone on this morning - it looks like it will take four though... In the meantime, here's a preview in the form of the little shed. I finished painting, weathering a...

Great pictures - and some ambitious operations by the looks.
I like that the Torosay Castle Express appears to be a goods train - there can't have been many named goods trains? I can think of The Condor, the Night Mail (I guess technically passenger) and The Flying Kipper!

Re: (WH)WHR Buildings
C’mon, c’mon! I want to see the green bits... Yeah, me too! I'm being strict with myself though, I've got to do the stone and slate bits first, because those are likely to be messy. I'm hoping to make some progress after "work" today... I'm getting there... the stone and slate are all don...

That looks just right!
My family drop similar hints, but I just get better at hiding things... My line can only manage 6 average length wagons, but the more I have the more variety I can have...
Keep squirreling 'em away Bertie!

Looking good! The vans are very nice indeed... I never did finish the chocolate factory (it was just taking up too much time and space), and the van remains unfinished too - I might have to crack on with it now! Quite how a standard gauge design to a made up scale will fit into my 16mm narrow gauge ...

Re: Internet "forums" are a thing of the past
What has increased significantly is attempts by bots and spammers trying to join! They'll never build a bot that can accurately replicate our nerdiness! Well, mine anyway, I guess I should only speak for myself! I'm often amused by the attempts to sell me stuff via online ads that are presumably inf...

Re: 5" gauge 0-6-0 Sweet Pea
I'd certainly find it instructive - for someone who's spent his entire life fascinated by steam locomotives, I really know very little about how they work!
If you can find the time to do it then I'll definitely be watching...
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports
Yes you've seen the station before unless you were asleep a couple of years back when I bored everyone silly with all the 3D printing I did. Aha! No, not asleep, but I don't recognise it at all, so I think it's from the period I spent away from the forum (and modelling generally) a few years ago. L...

Re: GRR - Light Railway Extension
Yep, it was fun! It's a fairly narrow window though - My kids were interested in it for a year or two, and then it passed. They loved it while it lasted though and would play for ages sometimes, with one taking the role of driver and another being a shunter/signalman. What I'm glad I realised was th...
