Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Hi Andrew, It does look good. You can see how long it's taken - the undergrowth is growing under and around the wheels! Seriously though, it's a superb build but I particularly like the finish of the roof and the vac pipe is brill. It has always surprised me that (by and large) brake vans wer...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Hi Andrew, These photo's are even better than the last! The train looks fantastic and I look forward to seeing them behind a WHR loco. I know what you mean about finding things, I'm about two years into a 'sort out' - the first eighteen months involved thinking about it! I've got miles to go yet but...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Hello All, Well, it's been a whole summer since my last update! I'd like to say a lot has been happening - but it hasn't, not on the CFLR at least. Despite good intentions I've not run a single train all summer. I was full of good intentions but you know how it is. On two occasions I've hacked back ...

Good old ST -you never fail to impress me. Those interiors are fantastic, the attention to detail is a real credit to you. I love the family picture over the fireplace. Whether the detail is easily visible or not, you know it's there and that's the important thing. Your railway is looking really goo...

Hi Peter, Wow! That really is some achievement. I suspect it's a Forum record. What I know for sure is that it's positive proof of the influence you and your railway have had on so many of the people here (past and present). Well done and thank you for the generosity of your posts and replies. :salu...

He was still trading a few weeks ago, a friend of mine contacted him by phone and bought some kits from him.

I think the Cliffe Hill Quarry Railway in Leicestershire had a couple of something very similar to this. If I could find my book about the line I'd check!

Hi ST, That's looking really good. The new loop looks very handy and the siding fits very nicely where you've layed it. I'm happy for you that you've managed to extend the line, I have no doubt at all that your enjoyment will be similarly increased, possibly not as much as the bairn's though! The ex...

Hi Andrew,
The wagons are great, lovely workmanship. I really love the coaches though.
I somehow missed the post back in April but having just had a close study of the photos I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed. The yellow is an interesting colour!
All the best,

Re: The Bishop's Woodland Light Railway (BWLR)
Hi BWLR, What a super little railway. The backstory is great. I love them and feel they are essential if a railway is going to be working one, as yours clearly is. Like you, I love operating a service. Your stations and sidings fit beautifully into the landscape. Being quite minimal makes them blend...

Hi Peter,
I love the full brake with the horse box and carriage truck. I was just thinking that there couldn't be a better livery for a coach of that type when you come along with four more of at least equal beauty! Well done and thanks for the continued inspiration.

Re: Gauge Widening
Evening all, I seem to be a bit late to this party (I hope someone saved me a Guinness!). The purpose of gauge widening is to reduce the frictional resistance of flange on rail as a vehicle travels through a curve. This also reduces the risk of 'flange climb' and thus the chance of derailment. 'Stan...

Hi Sylvian Tennant,
I think your brake van is one of the best I've seen, I'm impressed and not a little envious! Well done on such a high quality rebuild, it's something you should be very proud of. The livery really suits it too.

Re: Point rodding and concrete track
Hi Ensign Elliott, Welcome to the forum. Regarding check rails, my only comment above what's already been said would be to make sure you provide an adequate flangeway, particularly if it's on a curve. I think you might be struggling with signal wires. Anything you do in 16mm will lack the weight and...

I'm really impressed with the build. The jointing method is very good! I'm really looking forward to the rest of the build.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Hi Peter, I love all your builds but I have to say that I think this and the horse box together are probably my favourite. The Brougham is beautifully finished and a work of art in its own right. I think the wagon it sits on has worked out particularly well too. I love the way you have arranged the ...

It really is superb Peter. What an excellent chap Mr Irwin is too. The wagon really is 'made for the job'.
