Re: The Bishop's Woodland Light Railway (BWLR)
A new scenic addition to the line. The buildings on the railway are a mix of scratchbuilt and some kits, mainly resin. As part of the rebuilding of Bishop's Hutton Station I included a siding for a lineside industry, with the intention of this being the Bishop's Hutton Brewery. Early this year I sta...

Re: Protecting vulnerable points (turnouts)
This is a good idea, despite having a ground level line I haven't had a problem with damage to points probably due to a combination of not having points in positions where people might step on them and using Peco G45 track which seems quite robust. However like others have commented I do have a prob...

Re: The Bishop's Woodland Light Railway (BWLR)
How do you operate the terminus behind the shed?! It looks to be a very tight squeeze! It is! However it's not quite as bad as it seems from the photos, as there is good access from the side of the shed to the buffer stop end of the station(from whence the photos are taken) and access round the oth...

Re: The Bishop's Woodland Light Railway (BWLR)
In part 2 we continue our trip along the line. Up until now it has been been fairly easy going for the loco crew, with the line either level or on gentle downhill grades. However as trains leave Thorpe Underbrush towards Bishop's Hutton they are faced with Sundial Bank, a short upward stretch of 1 i...

Re: NEW FWLR LINE
The coaling stage looks great! I wouldn't change much on the weathering either, it looks rather good as it is to me.

Re: The Bishop's Woodland Light Railway (BWLR)
Thanks for the kind comments :) My aim was to have a very natural look, with few changes to the existing planting and the railway looking like it was planned through the existing terrain (just like the real thing). In places the planting gives a lush, almost tropical look at certain times of the yea...

Twitter Steam Rally 2
In May last year, we were still in the first Covid lockdown with no immediate hope of any steam events for the foreseeable future. The idea of having a virtual steam rally via Twitter was born, so #twittersteamrally was organised by one of my colleagues, Anthony Coulls. As well as being good fun at ...

The Bishop's Woodland Light Railway (BWLR)
Here is the story of my railway which started 6 years ago and took a couple of years or so to complete the basic construction. Since then, work has gone on to improve and upgrade the railway. It consists of around 140 ft of main line that loops its way around the edge of the garden winding its way t...

Re: Garden Railway Gallery June 2021 - ENTER HERE
That's a nice looking scene Andy.
I like the crane, is it one of the Pechot type ones from Wrightscale?
Your comment about the tractor makes me think of Father Ted... "This one is small, the ones out there are far away"!

Hello all, what a really good subject! As my first ever post on the forum I will chip in with this view of re-ballasting in progress on the Bishops Woodland Light Railway.
