When properly engineered, even the simplest of parts are a joy to look at. :)

Re: Zach Bond "Momentum Van" project

Finally got round to starting another much-needed momentum van. Stole Garethh's idea to drive via delrin chain, had to pry the mech apart to fit the sprocket. The IP Eng. axle needed a knurl on it before the ⅛" sprocket would stay put - a drop of superglue was used too, though I doubt it's effi...

Re: Two into one will go.

Wouldn't have thought all that would fit in the back, impressive. Always nice to see older vehicles being taken care of, rather than treated as disposable. It's certainly coming up well.

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Something about your line just feels perfect, I must say. :salute:

It'd be a shame to lose such a beautiful line in it's present form, but I know all too well what you mean, living with the problems. A new line of the same theme and detailing, redesigned for ease of use, sounds like a great idea.

Re: Garden Railway Gallery Sept 2021 ENTER HERE

Cheers gents, though I can't say I'm a fan of the local atmosphere - it was 32C/89F in the van today, just turned on the aircon for the first time this Summer - and we're only 13 days into Spring, yet.

My favourite part of the current line, during it's last train movement. Too many good photos here to vote for just one!

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

Your videos really are a treat, Rik. It's always nice to look back and see how far things have come; improvements made, lessons learned etc. Particularly love the fence posts outside the copper mine at 4:08 in this newest video. Zach, I noticed your momentum van wasn't behind River Butley, but it se...

IMG_9049-53.jpg Even ran into the night. Next time, I'd like to better-facilitate night running, a bit like Dazza's done on his line. :study: IMG_9058-62.jpg Some clips thrown together. https://youtu.be/9bddDAe9I70 06/09/21 A week later, demolition begins with the elevated section. ⅔ of the materia...

Re: What to do with a tiny, barren wasteland?

30/08/21 At the time these photos were taken, we expected to buy a place and move out of this sardine-suburbian hole early next year. So to give myself plenty of time to lift the line and re-terraform it into a driveway, (and so the grass under the elevated section can grow back) a final visitor's d...

Ah, I was wondering how the Inspector was doing; Good things usually take time. New ballast looks great, and the platform will only get better with age. Those Beyer Peacocks do have a fine look about them.

Re: Termites again !

I went straight to battery R/C at the start thanks to advice from Greg. I did have experience with DC track power in HO so was aware of the downside. Funnily enough I have stayed with track power for my HO but added DCC but as it is indoors there a lot less hassles. The only wiring I have is for th...

Re: "Calloway", a Roundhouse Bundaberg Fowler Rebuild

Cheers gents, that's good to know. Had a feeling it might've been some sort of 2-pack.. I found the meths in the ultrasonic did somewhat soften the paint on the cranks, but it's since re-hardened. I should do a spot test with etch primer on a crank before spraying the assemblies.. 21/08/21 The frame...
