Part 5 - Out comes the razor saw So, back at base, the razor saw went into mad frenzied action. IMG_5836.JPG ...... and the tanks (now to become the bunkers) were shoved back a bit ..... IMG_5854.JPG ....... and a saddle tank was fashioned out of plasticard. IMG_5974.JPG My bashes are never exact s...

Part 4 - Back to the drawing board At about that time, I happened to pick up a copy of Ivo Peters' OPC book on narrow gauge railways ( The Narrow Gauge Charm of Yesteryear: A Pictorial Tribute ; Peters, I; OPC; 1976) and in there were some pictures of the Ironstone Railways around Kettering - which...

Part 1 - The bug bites again I keep telling myself that I have more than enough locos ...... and then I see another loco which takes my fancy and, before you know it, I'm up to my eyes in plasticard. You may remember a few weeks ago I posted a video of a battery conversion which I had done for a cu...

The sample was edited to sound acceptable when looping on a PC before being flashed to the micro. The t85 has 8K of flash, and the sample rate is 8kHz, giving a maximum of 1 second of audio. The code on the micro is very simple, two timers are set up, one to output a fairly fast PWM signal on the b...

Here's a quick sketch. http://i.imgur.com/0LhDGaC.jpg The resistor at the top is to try and limit the current/power through the speaker, and there might be a resistor and capacitor on the output of the tiny85 before the transistor to do a bit of filtering. I'm definitely not an engineer (as I'm sur...

Re: Coach lighting
Have you had to recharge your battery yet? Nope. I ran the coaches again with lights on a couple of days ago when a visitor came to call and they still seemed to have plenty of charge. One of the reasons I rejected the hall effect sensors which I looked at was the relatively high residual current d...

Love those pictures of the cows. You have a really lovely setting for your railway which looks like it's coming along nicely. Love to see some video when it's fully up and running.

Re: Building a set of points
Hi Phil Well to my mind they look really good - especially the way you've included a bell crank. Not made my own pointwork in this scale (only in 00n3), but I agree with you about it being time consuming. Also, I found there was a certain amount of tweaking required afterwards to make sure the stock...

Re: Bespoke platform seats
Hello Rik, They really are very nice indeed. I love the company name. They have a nice 'weight' to them and the slats really set them off. I love your figures too, some of the best I've ever seen. Andrew Thanks Andrew I'm annoyed about the figures. I gave them a spray of matt varnish which is desig...

Interfacing sound cards with Deltang receivers
Having now installed sound cards in all my locos (apart from the next two on the work bench), using a range of commercial and home-bashed systems, I decided to put together a guide to interfacing Deltang (and/or RC Trains) receivers with various sound cards. I hope some of you find it useful. Althou...

Re: A Light Railway for the Western Dales
I took quick whizz through the photos and (apart from being in awe of your workmanship) thought the weather you were having in your part of the world is being very unseasonable until I read that the construction took place last summer...... Mind you, the weather is pretty awful for August!

I know what you mean about the IP gears. I've been through a few myself with my Jessie. Eventually, I replaced the whole IP system with a USAt motor block, but I'm 45mm gauge. See https://riksrailway.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/how-i-improved-mechanism-for-my-ip.html Would one of the MFA sub - miniature ...

Bespoke platform seats
Just putting the finishing touches to some platform seats which I had laser-cut with with the Peckforton Light Railway (PLR) monogram. I got them made up for me by Charles Mawer who posts on the Garden Railway Trading Group's Facebook Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/692310380849976/permalink...
