What a fantastic collection. I like the Caradoc and the Wrekin. Thanks for sharing pictures of your collection. I have stock stored all over the place too.

More IP Coaches

Steamgeorge (Wadebridge Light Railway) recently sold me three partly completed IP Coaches. These were from the long since discontinued Roundhouse sized range. I already had two, and wanted more to make a longer rake. The coaches have entered the carriage and wagon works for finishing off. The work s...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway

Interesting stuff. I'm tempted to use breeze blocks for my railway when (if) I get a round tuit. I did consider filcris or recycled plastics for durability. I guess the solution is to leave plenty of large expansion gaps if expansion and contraction proves to be the issue?

Re: Two Dogs Railway

Dwayne,

Glad you're pressing on with your railway. I've always enjoyed your posts. Sorry to hear of your marital issues. I do sympathise. Glad you've both been able to move on.

Fantastic. Love the use of a banker to assist big trains up the gradient.

It's a good start. My own modelling pace is very slow. Pictures are always appreciated. See Tom's guidance on how to post pictures if you're struggling to post them when you've taken some.

Re: Tom's station building

Very sharp looking station building. Any more progress on it since the last post? (Forgive me but I am just very curious to the end result :D ) Not much progress, but I stuck the corrugated roof on last week... It just needs a little filling and sanding and it'll be ready for painting, but that'll ...

Re: Peckett Body Build - First Attempt

I can only agree with Peter. Simply superb. Take your time with weathering and less is often more. I used "The Art of Weathering" by Martin Welch" to get me started. Other books are available. Most weathering materials can be washed off these days if you're not happy with the results....

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

The only prototype for the layout was from imaginary cartoons by Emett himself and I tried to be faithful to them and give them the credit they deserved. You might recall the large cartoon illustrations in the background (with publishers consent) to show where the influences originated. I'd certain...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Thank you Ian, that's nice to hear and I'm glad you enjoyed the experience. I can assure you the layout was as prototypical as I could possibly make it! Prototypical or not, and I wasn't implying it wasn't, it was brilliant and enjoyable. When I model in OO for others it's me who often strives for ...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Indeed. I can still remember the Emett railway you exhibited at Warley many years ago. I kept going back to it. All my friends couldn't understand me as usually I am known for prototypical accuracy as much as possible but I thought it was the best layout there by far.

Looks good to me too, and very interested in seeing the painted locomotive. Vac bags are also what they're known as on the East Lancashire Railway. Draincocks are also known as the taps and some refer to the injectors as pumps!
