Re: The B.E.R - Construction begins

Stage 1 of the rest of the railway has happened! A small shunt release at the northern end by the household bins. http://i66.tinypic.com/208ip81.jpg Shunt release in place. Maximum train length to make use of it and the runround loop down the garden is set at 2 WHR coaches. Makes a nice sized train ...

Some more images of the now semi-regular running on the line. Also some images from my visit to that lovely Matt Towell who has fitted Radio Control to my Superior and Excelsior. He's got my Leader for fitting right now. He also repainted and renamed Superior into its proper name. It looks absolutel...

Re: Bowaters Models - 16mm Rolling Stock Kits

Hi Jon, Just a quick one; have you looked at the possibility of making WHR carriage 1001? This is ex C&U so would be a "duel range" kit that you could provide? I know it also ran on the W&L so it could appease them as well? Hi, Been asked a few times about this. In theory, yes. In...

Re: The B.E.R - Construction begins

After some running through the snow with mostly long trains of Ffestiniog Railway Coaches, nothing has really run on the line. After some minor repairs (Hedgehogs are destructive to railways I've found), time to run some trains in the sun. Both the Lawley and my Leader ran with the new Sandy River s...

Re: Bowaters Models - 16mm Rolling Stock Kits

Can we have more detailed pictures of the flat car please as trying to understand why it costs £70. Does it have detailing we cannot see? Unfortunately, those cars are not cheap to produce either! Without giving too much away, just on Bogies and Couplings alone our bill is £31.50 per kit. That's be...

Re: What's your loco naming protocol?

My naming scheme?

Whatever the loco is called normally! So my Millie is called 'Millie', Leader 'Leader', Excelsior 'Excelsior' etc

The only engines not named are my Battery Electric Battery Electrics because they would look weird named in my opinion.

Re: WHR / FR diesel kits.

Peter Yatton does VoF and its WHR twin. At some point, I'll get one because those are meant to be very powerful especially the 4 motor versions. I have heard a rumour that Swift Sixteen were working on an FR diesel at some point plus the PDF Models Baldwin is in theory convertible into Moelwyn (I th...

Re: Ffestiniog Carriages

There are 3 people off the top of my head who can cover you coaches wise. Wagons I can't advise on. Bowaters Models has a popular range of 10 (soon to be 15) Modern FR coaches which would be perfect for the Roundhouse loco (DLG being the youngest of the fleet (for now)). They also have announced a r...

Thanks for all the comments guys! This is all looking good. Trains before Christmas!!! Grant. Wasn't quite before Christmas. More like yesterday! They're back. And producing some lovely stuff once again. His return has seen the cancelling of a few of our projects as a result.

Re: Bowaters Models - 16mm Rolling Stock Kits

You planning on making more vintage carriages after these 5? Carriage 15 should be very easy to make as well if you're doing 16. Also, with carriage 21 in the final stages of the build it might be a good idea to look at that one as well? Match-boarded like the summer carriages but with a stepped fl...

Very exciting Jon! Look forward to the WHR stock! Just had a quick look at the gallery section, your cherry red rake looks terrific! Just needs some Edinburgh tram lettering to complete! With the FR's recent carriage plan revealing that the C-set (high summer relief set) will be used as a "mod...

Re: Bowaters Models - 16mm Rolling Stock Kits

Now, we've had some subtle clues as to what our 2018-2019 range will be following on from our hugely successful 2017. It's time to reveal exactly what we're up to! As previously mentioned, we are releasing two ranges in 2018 and expanding two others. Over 2018, we will be expanding our range of Ffes...

Re: Gradient for manual control live steam

I run a purely manual fleet and I've never had issues with a train running away. That said, it depends on A, the loco and B, the kinds of train you want to run with it. Most trains I have don't tend to go beyond 4 coaches long which has never caused a runaway but I've never let the engine go uncheck...

Couple of days later than planned, it is done (almost). It took two of us (me and dad) 6 hours to complete but its been worth it. http://i68.tinypic.com/5ey5hy.jpg The first job was the remove the turf from the section of garden. Surprisingly easy to do but still took a long time. http://i68.tinypic...

Hi Jason,

I'm sure I can guess what these are for! I recommend Humbrol Ivory and Crimson as the closest match I've been able to find.

Cheers,
