Just another thought. If the balloon loop idea sounds good but space could be an issue, why not make the balloon loop removable? Without seeing the space where the line is to go its a little harder to see but there are plenty of posibilities. Andrew I will send you a pm with regards to my line. Save...

And so another year has passed, the railway has continued to evolve and is growing into something both friends and family are able to enjoy. Plans for 2015: Well if I'm being honest I don't quite know what direction to head in. I would like to add some more buildings to the line, and the seating ins...

Hi joe, Did you visit my line in November? I used to have big long straights running the length of the garden and it suited well for a while. This issue was that trains can very quickly pick up momentum on a long straight and they looked rather boring. I relaid the long straights in the summer onto ...

If they're made from mild steel it's a non starter due to corrosion issues. soldering the steel to the copper isn't an issue as such as the boiler needs to be silver soldered in any case. The last thing we want though is any rust trying to go through the steam ways as its a sure fire way of blocking...

I need to clear the sides down in the workshop again and then it's assembling the smokebox and starting the boiler work. If anyone can tell me what size former to use to flange the end plates to fit 42mm copper pipe that would be useful. With a bit of luck and a push down hill I would like to have t...

So now the chassis has been running on air I began looking at firing and boilers again.... After many hours of changingy mind I finally settled on a meths fired pot boiler with a chick feed meths burner. A bit of playing in the workshop later and the sump and burners have been made and tested on the...
