concrete board buildings

Hi all, A plummer recently showed me some concrete board, it's like plaster board but it isn't affected by water and it's much stronger. It looks like an ideal substance to make out door buildings from, it could be rendered with tile adhesive and scribed. It appears to good to be true! Has anybody u...

I don't have a dewinton, but I do have one of the slate wagons, they take some building, but I'm very pleased with the results. http://lh3.ggpht.com/-9QYbezi2BTw/Uvk4A94CZPI/AAAAAAAAV6U/gaWnuZerQR0/s1280/IMG_20140210_195333.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ilzO3WKZrnc/Uvk4AxxMZcI/AAAAAAAAV7k/raupB-fb-B0/s1...

I use plastic magic from deluxe materials, it sticks anything plastic, they have a long list of plastic types on there web site. I have home made points from peco parts, glued together with plastic magic, they have lived in the sun, wind, rain and frost with no problems at all, after some recent rel...

It looks like an interesting project, my line is also end to end along one side of the garden, I quite like end to end, it feels more real than a loop! I keep it interesting by playing shunting games and moving freight around the garden! I also have a Mamod, a 30 year old SL1, its got lots of dream ...

Chassis Advice

Hi, Im looking at using a commercially produced chassis kit and making my own body to fit. I like the look of the Huston Gate Loco Works 4wd chassis, it looks like it makes up into a strong unit. Im not too bothered about haulage capacity as I only have a very little line and trains are usually no m...

I door intend stopping running trains I hope to get a few running sessions over the winter.
On the long dark evenings I his to make some buildings as my line still looks very bare. As I set my layout during world war two, the blackout makes evening running very difficult!

Building points, it appears to take for ever and all a really want is to see my little railway get bigger!

Also, I have putting something right where I know I should have made a better job of it the first time around and avoided doing it twice!

Hi, I never thought of using a compass point, I was going to use a knife to score the lines but thought that it might be difficult. Here is a newer pic, of the brake getting near to finished along with an andel van I constructed. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0pjRMpvTU8s/VCGAtkGhRwI/AAAAAAAAbqA...

They look really good TLHC, I agree with the weight issue, I have added quite a few car wheel weights (the sticky back type for alloys) to the bottoms of mine, it transformed the running, I'm planning on metal centre couplings as well and I'm hoping that it will help with shunting around sharp corne...

That's looking really nice, I like the hand rails, it's amazing how much a few changes improves these simple models. This is mine coming together, I also fancied the idea of planking but being a cheapskate I just drew the planks on with a black pen! The color is just a thin wash of fence paint. http...

Hi Big Jim,

Yes, they are an easy build, all the parts go together really nicely, I would recommend that you painted before assembly though as that makes it much easier.

I'm looking to add some more detail after picking up since more bits when I go to Merstham next month.

andel coaches

Hi all, In now very near to finishing two andel 2 compartment panel coaches, these have been a joy to build, they went together very easily and painting them componentised made it very easy to get a nice contrasting color scheme. I have a little work to do on the roofs (I modified these to be remova...

finding scale cars

Hi,

Does anybody know where I can get cheap pre war cars for sm32 that I could leave out in the garden, they don't need to be very detailed.
In particular I'm looking for small cars like Austin 7, morris 8 etc

Cheers,

Dave

I bought a cheap RC car to rip to bits for the radio gear, it worked a treat. It even saw use at an exhibition. The only problem is the lack of speed control.

It's a nice cheap fun way to get something running

When I ordered it would only let me but two (I wanted three!) So I may have ordered the last!

They arrived today, they add a great splash of color at the stations.

Thanks to all the posters for the info

Cheers, Dave
