I think the current wife would be removing various underused parts of my anatomy if I even thought about it.

Re: What did your pets have for Christmas?
Bit of an odd one from me. We had to have Thicky the cat put down on the Sunday before Christmas. She was the last of two sisters that we had been owned by since 2001. Since we have lived in this house we have been feeding a stray cat that lived under the shed. She would never come into the house as...

Pure guess.
Could it be a level plug?
My Brick has one, unscrew a few turns and fill until dripping commences.

That is a nice approximation of an AEC Routemaster.
A little application of black or red paint may help tone down the headlights.
As for weather proofing, a coat of clear spray lacquer may help.

If you can wait a week I might be able to source some from the club. I think we may have a bag that was deemed too small for the ME scales.

Re: Christmas holidays
What are you hoping to do? Well, we WERE booked to fly to Marsa Alam on the Egyptian Red Sea coast for 2 weeks from yesterday until after New Year. However, having got up at 4-45am yesterday we spent from 7-30am yesterday until approx 3pm amongst about 100,000 people in the chaos at Gatwick due to ...

Running around like an idiot from now (well since december 1st) until 2pm on Christmas day. Home to cook the dinner and collapse until boxing day when I have another service. Then sleep until my name changes to Rip van Jim.

I am a firm believer in the KISS school of engineering.
That looks fine like that. Why make work for yourself?

Ooh nice. Very atmospheric, I could almost smell them.
I really need to have a play with some 16mm coal fired stuff.

Re: Future of preserved railways
I can't see coal disappearing any time soon, far to many people still rely on it for heating and hot water. There are enough users world wide to keep a demand going for many years, it might get more expensive though.

Re: Lubricators
Thanks, there are some interesting points there. I do wonder if we over oil our small engines. I regularly drive a large 7 1/4" engine pulling 4 loaded coaches. It appears to use only a fraction more cylinder oil than my RH Russell and has two 2" cylinders. This was not scientifically work...

Re: A Garage For FWLR
Glad you're enjoying your garage build Rod and making good progress. I have been a user of plasticard for many years and am now trying out foam board for making buildings. There will be set backs for me along the way but I'll soon get better and make fewer mistakes. I've already discarded my first ...

Nice start Rod, it is always encouraging to see people trying new methods and writing them up.
It looks like it will be bit special when finished, perhaps you may give Mr Butler a run for his money.

Re: What to do with a couple of chassis
That looks rather good. I have been after a pair of outside cranked chassis, with a horizontal motor for a while. Who made them?
