It's looking just right Rod, all those details really bring it to life - I'm looking forward to seeing what you're going to build next!
All the best,
Andrew.

Re: The Far End Tramway - Construction starts!
I've had to use Peco small radius points at both ends of my line in order to cram things in and still have acceptable length loops, and I think it was a good compromise. Operationally it seems to work fine, largely because at a terminus station speeds are always low, I think. I guess you might have ...

A brief but tantalising conversation about an extension over last weekend. Don't watch this space, though - it won't be quick to materialise! Ooh, interesting... I really like the neat and compact character of your line, but an extension's always an exciting prospect... Most of my planned extension...

That's looking very good, and will look even better when it's ballasted.
Shunting puzzle layouts cropped up in conversation here a while ago and this reminds me of "Inglenook Sidings" kind of layouts where short sidings make shunting a challenge...
Cheers,
Andrew.

Re: (WH)WHR Buildings
Afternoon all, With Tom's station building and the rusty tippers finished at the weekend, my thoughts have naturally turned to what I might do next. The priority has to be tidying up the railway, and that will include a new tunnel mouth to replace the one that fell apart after the wood holding it al...

Glad you like the wagons, thank you!
Margaret does have a driver, somewhere, I'll have to try to dig him out from wherever he's hiding, and then perhaps attach him more permanently to the footplate!
Cheers,
Andrew.

Re: 2019 16mm Show
My first impression is that there are more layouts showing beautifully crafted scenic work to give the locos and stock a proper working environment, not just tearing round on plain track. I watched a video yesterday, and that was my impression too, a very welcome development. The video I watched se...

Re: Tom's station building
I may still have it, Tom's busy planning alternative railway options subject to planning permission from the land authorities (yes my wife). Excellent - keep me posted! I weathered and varnished it today, just need to glaze it now and it'll be done. Thanks for the kind comments folks, much apprecia...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
When are you going to get brave on the paintwork on that diesel? That's a tricky one... It's named after my late mother-in-law, and was purchased with a bequest from her, so I feel a bit funny about attacking it with a palette of grot-coloured paint. I did choose the colour scheme thinking it would...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Afternoon all, After a hectic few weeks, a lovely relaxing Sunday morning seemed the perfect time to finish off the tippers with a little paint here and there where required. This afternoon they had a very brief run up the garden, starting in the headshunt at Trefechan, the closest thing the (WH)WHR...

Re: Disasters, Out-takes, Accidents, Fails etc.
A while back I melted a couple of Big Big Train wheelsets and part of the bogie when my IP Jane left a pool of burning meths on the track... It was a hot day and the flame was almost invisible so I didn't notice until the carriage kind of sagged to a halt. I managed to repair the bogie with some qui...

Nearly there with this one...
I've finished the painting, so there's just a bit of tidying up, some light weathering and maybe a coat or two of varnish to do now:
Cheers all,

It's great to see some track going down - and doesn't your new stock look fantastic in the sunshine?!
The "I only do this to enjoy it" rule is a good one - and one I often only remember after I've tied myself up in knots over some obscure and irrelevant detail or other!
Cheers,
Andrew.

Hi Tom, I'm sad to hear of the demise of the old RWLR, and will miss your regular reports from your inspiring and characterful little line, but I'm looking forward to its next incarnation already, whenever that may be. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad too - that sort of thing really does make you re...

Hi Andrew, Do you know if the Merlin Catalogues available anywhere? :study: :D I think I've possibly still got mine somewhere, although I've no idea where - I'll scan it if I ever come across it... In the meantime, I found the cover online! http://www.binnsroad.co.uk/railways/merlinloco/cat1989.jpg...

Re: Merlins Castle Line
Yes, congratulations on purchasing a lovely loco - I hope you can get it running as well as it looks. I had a Merlin catalogue which i spent a lot of time drooling over in the the late 80s - I'm not sure that anyone's yet come up with a generic loco that matches the good looks of the Mayflower and M...

I really admire your patience Rik! Might give your gem applying technique a go some time - I use the tip of a knife blade to apply 'em, which works OK but is a bit fiddly.
The wagons are looking marvellous, well done!
Andrew.
