Yes it was. Possibly the same actual engine?

I have an almost identical Samson and am very pleased with it.
By the way, I have fitted an anti vacuum valve to avoid the boiler sucking oil from the lubricator. Clevedon steam sells the valve and you can easily fit it to the top of the water gauge.
Just bought one.

Thanks Chris, that was very helpful. I have copies of the reviews By Tag, they were in with the documentation that came with it. I was allowed a test run today, before it gets wrapped for Christmas and it performed faultlessly, beautifully smooth and quiet and so easy to light! On my simple circle o...

Samson

My wife has just bought me a Cheddar Samson for Christmas. I am well chuffed to say the least. ./myff/2030517/Samson1.JPG ./myff/2030518/Samson2.JPG I am very impressed by the build quality, Roundhouse are good, but they feel light, Accucraft are heavy but lack the engineering finesse, Samson has bo...

I bought one off Ebay, to convert to battery with RC control. I am not to keen on the little electric motor, so I'm currently researching alternatives.

Any ideas?

I am in the midst of drawing plans for revolving windows for my Katie. The etched brass ones are one of the least satisfactory parts of the kit.

There was a small stirling engined loco serialised in the Model Engineer some years back called "Caloric".

I have seen a pic of this beastie before and I have just spent twenty minutes trying to find the book that it is in with no luck. I think it was propelled by a pair of vertical cylinders driving just a single axle (so it was a 2-2-0) This may have been liberated from a scrap steam lorry. I believe ...

That is an interesting loco and a great project.  I an looking forward to seeing this progress. I do have a problem reading your post on this subject as it is much, much wider than the screen image and I have to move the text right and left to read it.  Occasionally it happens on other posts from v...

new project

I have built a RH Katie from a kit. I have made static steam engines from scratch. Time to build a loco from scratch. As a prototype I have chosen CIÉ "Pat" a Steam powered shed on wheels. Originally a tender from another scrapped loco it was equipped with a vertical boiler De Winton style...

Chuffer? Well I have thought about it. Thing is I rather like the way she runs so quietly and it's a bit of a one way process fitting a chuffer. I have a chuffer on my Ragleth and it can make her sound a little "busy". So for the moment at least, no chuffer, no slo-mo, no RC. Keeping it si...

No the wrapper is satin black. I did try to paint it blue at the front and black at the back, but then decided to take the easy way out for now.

Looks amazing! More pictures please! Are you going to add any extra detailing at all? Or is that a future project? Yes; all screws will be replaced with bolts where they can be seen and I plan to make new riveted buffer beams in steel and new valve covers in brass with bolts to hold it down with du...
