New Wholestick Cane Trucks

In late 2020, I was no longer content with my old wholestick cane trucks , a rake of ten I'd built in 2016. They sat too high, their proportions were wrong, among other issues. In any case, I'd like to model sugar mill operations more realistically - with multiple separate trains dropping empty truc...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Looks a laborious task, re-activating the line. Those passengers might appreciate an offer of some trauma counseling after their time in the spider cave :? - or at least a season pass on the line. :)
Looking forward to seeing the line wake up again.

Re: What to do with a tiny, barren wasteland?

Thanks again, I'm also pleased with the overall effect. Letting the weeds do their thing would further improve it.. that is indeed cinnamon, with a little paprika here and there for highlights. I particularly like how the oil has wept out of each joint in the motion, and turned very dark. I'll have ...

"Calloway", a Roundhouse Bundaberg Fowler Rebuild

Back when Roundhouse announced their Bundaberg Fowler in 2016, I put my name down for one. Not long after, I lost my job and had to withdraw my place in the batch. By mid 2020, I had some money left-over from my caravan rebuild, and a chance look at Anything Narrow Gauge's website, revealed a reason...

Re: What to do with a tiny, barren wasteland?

After running into problems with his previously-pictured loco "Alison", Anthony weathered it up, and left it with me, to see how his unusual weathering technique (kitchen spices sprinkled over wet paint!) would hold up in real-world weather. I'm not so willing to experiment on my locos, bu...

Pictures are showing up nicely for me. Beautiful work, there, very tidy power arrangement.

Good to hear you're getting a workshop, every railway (and tramway) needs one. :)

Funny you say that, I've been considering something like that myself. Doubt I'll ever get round to building one, though..

Another excellent video as always, Rik. In time, I plan on doing videos of my own, and would be thrilled if they came out as well as yours.

Too rare and nice an loco, to be abused that way. Send it down here, I can provide a loving home for it among fellow sugar engines. ;)

Re: 16mm scale Jenbach JW15 loco

I had one of these printed by a fellow down in Sydney. Haven't touched it, as I've three years worth of work ahead of it in the que! Bought the 3V IP chassis for it, as I was ordering one of their Simplexes anyway. Those two will be the yard shunters for my future sugar mill. The Jenbach is really a...

Re: Snow in Southeast Queensland! Well, frozen water, anyway..

I have delayed the repositioning of my buildings on the railway as we have been experiencing severe weather conditions here too. The wind has been strong enough to fold my greenhouse frame (fortunately minus its glass during repositioning) and blow an industrial cement mixer over.... Ooh, hate to s...

Re: Imperial Hotel - a Queenslander pub

19/05/21 After narrowly missing destruction by umbrella , the pub was concreted into place, along with the bank. The road surface is a bit rough, (lesson learned, don't use crusher dust as aggregate for future modelling of paved roads, though it's great for dirt roads) and the road's layout is an af...

Re: IP Engineering Rail Bus

Looking good Jimmy. My I ask why you chose to use a separate ESC rather than one of the Deltangs with it built into the receiver? Unfortunately, they're no longer in production, and extremely hard to find, anymore. Consequently, I'll be using the same Rx and ESC combo as Jimmy, in some coming proje...
