Those were nice looking smokeboxes. Reportedly the tooling for them failed, a true shame.

Agreed, if you had said "what locomotive served as the basis for this modification" I don't know if I would have identified it. Maybe the rear driver would lead toward Millie, but that is probably due to me now knowing it is a Millie.

From years of watching, Millies seem to keep their S/H value well if you decide to sell them on.

Like myself, he also open carries. His parents who live beside him, both conceal carry. Or does it just force everyone to be a little more polite than they would otherwise be if they weren't a little nervous about the vaguely implied threat? Exactly, as we say here in TN, that looks like a house &q...

Unfortunately I don't think our friends in the UK can protect themselves anymore.  Not an issue around here, my neighbor was sighting in a new rifle in front of my house about 5 hours ago. ;)   When we bought our house in '96 you couldn't even lock it. :D Very unfortunate. Perhaps in time they'll r...

The only catch with rain water is any pollution in the air.

Lucky for me, all the distilled water I could want at US $.80 (just over UK 50p) a gallon within three miles of the house.

...But back in the day I did use dehumidifer water.

I hope this is a chance break in and not related to the last collection of locos that was stolen not so long ago. What I fear every time when I hear about this that posting photos, videos, discussion, of our items may be putting us in some form of jepoardy, along with meets, open houses, etc. Espec...

I really like the looks of the van, will consider it when I need another covered goods wagon.

Question, is there a chance of a small brake/gaurds van in the future? The IP basic one just does not look right to me and many of the others are too big compared to small IP/Mamod type stock.

Thanks!

Very nice bit of engineering there.

As far as the MDF, will painting it help seal it. The fear I have (and maybe it is unjustified) would be swelling with humidity or if accidentally caught in a rainstorm.

Not to fan the meths/gas flame (stoopid pun intended) but I have found one thing. The Sidestreet Bannerworks/West Lawn burners made for Mamods in the US back in the 1980s did not spill, boil out, catch the footplate on fire, short burn times, hard to fill, etc.  I never understood the fuss  .....

Don't worry about simple or crude, 5' away in the garden and they all look the same!

I have started digging out the stuff I did in the 1980s as a youngster. Is it simple, yes, some of it is downright ugly, but no reason to give it up. :D

It may be something where a group of 16mm'ers in North America could get a large order together. Also looks like very little, if any, wrap-around of the boiler.

<edit> The wrap around both helps keep heat in and the "draft". I think this, along with insulation between the frames and sheild, would be of benefit?

Re: Well Chuffed Locomotives

Is there anyone out there who knows the history of this apparently short lived range of locomotives? I've been asked to take a look at one, which isn't running very well. Apparently nicely engineered with some neat touches.  Anyone out there to satisfy my curiosity?  I seem to remember one in parti...
