Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd
I admire your perseverance Phil, but I fear that any attempt to use any kind of plastic, especially black, will end up as a variation on a theme. FWIW, I have used white foam board as a sub base then painted that with SBR and spread "Postcrete" on top. It weathers to a nice gravel appearan...

Re: A Ruston-ish ....
What is the motor Rik? I've seen ones that look like that but never been sure if they were any good, and as with all these Chinese motors there are varying voltages, ratio's, etc.

Re: Quarry Hunslet
An update and admission! Not quite sure how it happened but when I printed the footplate I seem to have used an earlier drawing rather than the final one. It was only after I printed it and glued it to the frames, painted and posted about it, that I realised the error. There should be a row o...

Re: Quarry Hunslet
Just wish I had a bigger bed now for printing things that length, but it's not going to happen for years yet. Yes, well I'm fortunate Rod. I couldn't have afforded the big machines myself either, but technically they both belong to SWMBO's company and were bought to do a job for a particular contra...

Re: Quarry Hunslet
Just to be clear - frames printed separately from the footplate? (And flat to the bed too, so oriented at 90 degrees to how we are seeing them?) The footplate was printed by itself, upside down from how it appears in this photo - a simple 2mm thick slab with a small groove on the long edges and var...

Quarry Hunslet
Steve's "Alice" type Hunslet inspired me to have a go at one. As he himself said, his is just basic and lacking a lot of detail and he was quite happy for me to do whatever I wanted to his basic stl's. ( thanks Steve). So anyway, the stl's imported into Sketchup with no problems at all and...

I've seen the stack(s) of boxes but couldn't begin to hazard a guess at how many there are!

Re: Loco wheels (and other issues) 7/8th scale
Oh, sorry Philip, my mistake. How did you mount it and how did it work out in your model, successful I hope? Dave Dave, read through the link to my build thread in my earlier post and it will show you how I mounted it. Because of the cross-shaft output there are no fixing holes in the end, so I tra...

Re: Another Faller Railbus
I have seen a Faller railbus which has been widened, and had extra height added too, I think, to make it more in keeping with other 16mm scale stock - that seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to! I started to do that with one of mine but gave up in the end, it just didn't seem worth the effort...

Re: Loco wheels (and other issues) 7/8th scale
Sorry Dave, I'm not quite with you? I got one a couple of months ago and installed it in the Gmeinder loco, as per the thread I linked to. I don't have any more on order.Dave Cooper wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 7:31 pm
Would you mind telling all when yours arrives philipy? I would be interested to hear how it worked out for you.

Re: Loco wheels (and other issues) 7/8th scale
Yes, I have used a couple of N20 gear motors, most recently on a German "Gmeinder & Co" diesel: https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14734&hilit=gmeinder They are fine for light duty loco's but not sure if I would trust them with a heavy hauler, and I have no experience of...
