I find Hafixs very good keep in the fridge though. Marion wanted something fixing and that did the trick so I am allowed to keep it in the fridge since then.

When we get southern gales the wind is so strong here that we get plants shaken so much that the roots either loosen or break.

I think the question you need to ask yourself Rik is am I interested in raisng the standard of some of the older stock or is hat I really want to do is build some interesting different vehicles. Adding brake gear. strapping, hinges etc. to wagons may seem more of a chore than something to fire your ...

My Mamod would run nicely once you found the right setting fo the reverser/throttle. I had fitted a Tom Cooper gas burner and tank but never gave a thought to that improving the weight distribution. Mind you when I fitted it I was testing it with a bit of track on a plank. It was let it go and dash ...

This can be very confusing among my models I have an LBSC Terrier and a GWR Dock Tank both in 7mm scale both fairly accurate. However the Terrier looks for all the world as though it is to a smaller scale. I use 16mm on 32 mm track but I am less sure about the bought in models. I haven't measured up...

Re: Gauge Widening
Just a bit of extra information. There is a growing number of 0 gauge finescale modellers who find that their stock runs well on 31.5mm gauge. It improves the look of pointwork with reduced flangeways and avoids the stock bumping as the wheel passes through the crossing. For those with tighter curve...

As an alternative to springs you can use a small weight to hold the turnout blades closed, but small enougth that a train passing through will lift the weight. A friend has some on his 0 gauge garden line. One problem with either weighted or sprung points they can be a problem if you stop a train ha...

As this is a look back I suppose we may hear more about the Mamod later. However mine with was fitted with a Tom Cooper gas burner many year ago never gets a run these days. Katie and Taliesin were much more fun and there are others too now.

Greg these days in the UK all the structural timbers have to be pressure treated wood, things like skirting and architraves are not included. Also the humidity of modern houses is much lower than in old cottages and that discourages wood worm. The other problem is dry rot which is a fungus. There is...
