OK - NOW I feel stupid. Thank you very much for the advice, which I really appreciate. I've just taken Russell into the garden and lit up to warm the boiler as suggested - and on removing the dome to obtain more leverage on the safety valve remembered that Russell has a separate water filler plug. D...

Thanks Dan - unfortunately I don't think there's anything in there. I've just tried warming it with the flame from my gas torch/soldering iron but without success. Possibly not hot enough? Any more bright ideas folks? Thanks!

My safety valve's stuck!

Afternoon all, I was planning to run my RH Russell this afternoon but have found that I've left the safety valve screwed in since I last used it several months ago, and now the bloomin' thing's stuck, so I can't fill the boiler! Any thoughts on freeing it without damaging anything would be much appr...

Re: Guards van.

I am sure you all decide you would do things differently if you could do it again. Well I built one of these a few years ago and I can see you've successfully avoided all the problems I encountered - it looks lovely! Looks like the buffet car (and is that the Gladstone peeping into shot?) are comi...

You'd have to build a steeply graded branch too of course...

It does look lovely, although I'm not convinced that spindly little coupling would cope with a heavy freight...

Cheers,

Excellent stuff! Those L&B carriages look lovely, and I see you added your ELC* halt too - our ELC cottage never made it into the garden ( I "went Welsh" before I got the chance so needed slate roofs rather than thatched ones) but yours looks good there. Andrew *Early Learning Centre, ...

Hope you're all enjoying the show...

Intriguing. I was wondering what wonders will be shown to demonstrate how the line reaches the upper terminus. It's a complex technique, but I think suspension is the key word. Of disbelief that is, hopefully aided by the difference in hight and some careful landscaping! The two stations will be al...

I'm loving these lighter evenings! This week I've been able to spend an hour or so in the garden after work and have begun to build the structure that will support the upper terminus: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/cosmobonsor/Construction%20and%20testing%202014/IMGP1701_zps573f73a7.jpg It's...

Lovely photos of lovely railways, thank you! The foggy one of your Millie in the station looks like it was taken in the sort of drizzly weather I became very used to when living in Aberystwyth... Both lines sit so well in their surroundings. They do make me wish I had a little more space though - it...

I'm beginning to wonder whether the thin strip of garden next to the front drive is actually meant to be a garden tramway? Or perhaps a little indoor route with low-relief shop-fronts? A tram or two would look good trundling through the streets of the K&NWR... I've just found some lovely picture...

What a lovely beastie! Despite my line's WHR influence I don't think I could squeeze one of those round it, so it's very impressive that you manage indoors - have you got enough of a run (and enough stock) to make it work hard?

Glad to see the local's serving Kentish ale...

All the best,

My wife would be truly alarmed if I turned out models at the rate you do! Although I might get away with it if they were as lovely as the ones you produce, loving the W&L style vans. Surely you can't hold out for much longer against the temptation to buy a live-steamer to pull 'em all! Thanks fo...
