Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
One of my latest videos (there are two more). I decided to install a test track in the workshop. Initially, it was just going to be a length of track above the workbench, but you know how these things escalate! :? It now encircles the interior of the workshop, with a couple of sidings to hold stock ...

Re: Early garden railways
Ditto. There is a chapter in his book “Buckingham Great Central - 25 years of railway modelling” that is devoted to the garden line too. It’s an interesting read. His solution to the low level high level debate was to dig pits at the stations as seen in Rik’s scan above. Andy I must see it I can ge...

Re: Early garden railways
Probably the greatest inspiration for me was Rev Peter Denny's Trepolpen Valley Light Railway, which appeared in various guises through the 1960s and 70s. He used clockwork powered locos and positioned the stations so they were a predictable number of key turns apart. This photo from the August 1975...

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a beer wagon? Did it carry beer, or is it the Welsh equivalent of a 'bier' - ie for carrying coffins?

Re: Ginnerbeck viaduct for Rylston Light
My technique in avoiding air bubbles is highly technical and laborious to describe so only read on if you are an expert modeller. . . The simplest way to describe it is that I didn’t know it was a potential problem    Now I’m going back to the viaduct to look. Everyone knows that Ryl...

Wow! That's some serious engineering, Graham. will the upper track descend to join the lower one before the lift-up bridge?

Re: Ginnerbeck viaduct for Rylston Light
Absolutely brilliant, Andy!! I wish I'd seen this thread before making my viaduct from individual balsa blocks treated with resin wet-rot hardener. Incidentally, how did you stop air bubbles forming in the resin? I recently saw a YouTube video where someone vibrated the table with a blade-less jigsa...

Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company
Excellent! You've already surpassed my turnout making total ..... well actually you surpassed it on the first evening!!!
One day, I will have to have a go. I've always fancied trying to make some dual gauge pointwork. But maybe I should start with something simpler....

Re: Campfire animation
I wonder what other cameo scenes could be animated. I'm sure that somewhere on here someone animated a signalman waving a flag from a signal box. Didn't you animate a fireman on one of your locos, Greg? I've often wondered if I could animate a guard giving hand signals when shunting, but the problem...

I love the notion of steam powered electricity ......
But then, thinking about it, apart from renewables, I suppose the rest of our national grid is steam powered ......

Looking good! You know you are making good progress when the water feature goes in! As with all your projects, it looks well engineered.

Looks great, even better now it's been painted. I believe I got the bevel gears from MFA Como https://www.mfacomodrills.com/pdfs/918D-Accessories-PDF.pdf But I've also used Technobots in the past, so I might have got them there https://www.technobotsonline.com/plastic-bevel-gears.html I can recommen...

A good job you didn't enter one of these photos for the Lineside Industries photo comp. My photo wouldn't have stood a chance!
Really great atmosphere created. The yard has a busy feel to it.

Re: NEW FWLR LINE
..... I did by stepping backwards into thin air..   We all do something similar at some point .... Well I did. Except in my case I stepped down off the railway on to a garden chair after cutting the hedge - the chair collapsed and threw me against the railway - I cracked a rib and w...
