Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports

MR I N SPECTRE REPORT ON CLATTERBACH VALLEY LIGHT RAILWAY PART 1 I am pleased to be in a position to start a report on a new railway, although I am not able to conclude at this stage, for reasons which will become clear. I have secured profuse apologies from the CVLR's General Manager for the delays...

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports

The Clatterbach Valley Light Railway apologises for the delay to the inspector's report. This is due to weather, work, family duties, ill children, Christmas...
(Mr Spectre safely received a couple of weeks ago and all intentions are good!)

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports

Has Mr Spectre gone into hibernation? I confess that I was late responding but I provided an address in mid-November and am not sure whether it got through by PM.

Re: New Mamod Hunslet?

Apart from on here I can not find any mention or pictures of it anywhere. I've seen a photo of the complete and painted locomotive on the 16mm Association Facebook group (not the group from which the photo above was taken). I've noticed that Mamod can be a bit slow in getting new products on to the...

Thanks - useful information (or it would be if I actually had a Brunel or thought I'd be likely to have one in the near future!).

Will it have a pressure gauge? I think the Stirling has one.

Re: Ordered me a new Brunel

The Brunel looks great, but the others lack the charm of the original SL series. Since I doubt we will see that, and MSS's quality is all over the place, I will find me a nice RS set to start to upgrade. I agree. I think that MSS has the rights to the SL design these days, so I can't see Mamod maki...

Ooh rather jealous! Although I will say that personally I'm not really a big fan of the Mamod design of canopy.

Roundhouse GFA leaking

My Roundhouse gas filler adapter has developed a leak - when I press it down to fill my Bertie's gas reservoir a jet of gas escapes sideways (horizontally) at the joint between the end nozzle and tube parts, i.e. just above the cab roof. It doesn't quite occur all the time, so possibly when held in ...

Er... bit of a big if there!

Interesting point about Piko versus Peco, which is beyond my knowledge.

True. Then again, there's been virtually no running this summer anyway - no time after work and family!

Re: Clatterbach Valley Light Railway

A great little line is a quiet corner of the garden. I like the raised curve section. I bet that makes a nice viewing area sitting on the grass as the sun goes down. And fifteen months on from that comment being made, we've actually managed to move a shed and enable that to happen! 20190922_154316-...

Re: MSS wheels not suited to tight radii on Peco track

Though, at this point, I think I may just get some Roy Wood wheels. Anyone got experience with them? Are they worth it? Yes. And... Yes. It's the MSS ones that are cheap, not the RWM ones that are pricey. (But remember they're differently quartered than the Mamod/MSS ones, so even if you think you ...

Re: MSS wheels not suited to tight radii on Peco track

To be honest, I'm not too surprised. The MSS wheels I initially got looked ropey once I'd realised what was going wrong (at first I thought I'd bent the frames and caused the wheels to bind on them) and made me wonder about production quality at MSS. Replacements didn't improve things either. Looks ...

Re: Suggestions please: removable ground-level section

You will have a nice scenic line which will get finished in time for you to run trains before summer is out. I can guarantee there's absolutely no chance of that timescale, but thanks for the encouragement! (The failure even to do some measuring over a whole weekend is a clue.) But I do have the ex...
