Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Incidentally, I suggested in the video that I doubted if any of the freight trains in my videos over the years would exactly match the train which was passing by the camera at that moment. Greg and I discussed this during our most recent Skype chat and agreed it was highly unlikely. As a result, I t...

Just out of interest, are those supports added automatically by the slicer or did you put them in manually?

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Excellent video again Rik, you make it all look so easy, although we know there is much preparation and planning beforehand. Well worth the effort, so thank you for sharing your railway with us. Thanks Peter. I must admit, when the weather is bad, to watching some of my past videos as a substitute ...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Attention to detail and consideration given to so many aspects of this (the railway, rolling stock, operations, video) is, of course, so impressive. Love the sheep audio! Sheep audio was something that stood out to me as well, as something I wouldn't have thought to add but that gives a lot of ambi...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Most enjoyable as usual. I do like the wagons of all different heights and widths. One suggestion - maybe a short overhead view of the wagons from your overbridge would show the wagons wandering along too. I have done that in the past. It was a toss-up whether the shot in the cutting near the start...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Enjoyable as ever. I love how active and busy your line is, something that on your own I think would be really hard to recreate with live steam. During a filming session you must have great fun setting the camera and then flipping between the controllers to get the correct loco. I've enough trouble...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Is that a wasp hitching a ride @11:34? Additionally, I think the boot @9:13 may need a bit of a clean as it's looking a bit grotty. Well spotted! Yes indeed. I think the wasp was attracted by the orange colour of the wood. I believe they chew the wood to make the material for their nests. I did won...

I really like Dennis with its side mounted cylinders. Maybe it's just because I've been looking at the Shay thread.

Re: Semi-scale BR: Garratt loaded test run
Another great video. Who'd have thought it would generate a music/sound effects debate? Are you still using your friend's music? I quite like it - folky and original. I do like loco sounds and hardly notice whether they are synched to the wheels. I do have one loco in my fleet which uses a wheel cam...

And another "Hear, hear" from me. Would love to see your line resurrected, Andrew. I well remember watching it's progress with great interest as Filcris seemed to be the future for track foundations. The garden can be a harsh mistress.

Good chunky metal gears, as well.. The only downside of a bevel-gear final-drive, is it is usually 1:1, so you need to be sure you motor /gearbox gives you the ratio you need. How noisy, is this arrangement, Rik? Phil.P Surprisingly quiet for metal on metal gears. I'll make a video later (once I've...

Hi Rik, actually, it will be more Australian/American sugar cane sort of. By the way, behind the smoke box door are two switches. One for the smoke unit and another 3 way switch. In the middle position it wont run, but what is the difference in the other two positions ? Only asking as it didn't com...

Re: A Ruston-ish ....
What is the motor Rik? I've seen ones that look like that but never been sure if they were any good, and as with all these Chinese motors there are varying voltages, ratio's, etc. Hi Philip The one I've used on these chassis is the 12v GA25-370 motor (170RPM). They're around £4GBP from Ali Express ...
