Re: Rolling stock of the Wadebridge Light Railway
Thank you, I used Humbrol enamel as there white paint is very strong and is fine with one coat for letters. The body of the wagon is Pheonix Precision Paints GWR freight wagon grey if you were wondering.tom_tom_go wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 9:14 pm Nicely done the sign writing. Did you use just a brush and acrylic or enamel paint?

Rolling stock of the Wadebridge Light Railway
I have decided to make a second thread to keep railway and rolling stock updates separate. To Start things off, I thought I would give some background information for goods traffic on the railway. I imagine the railway came under ownership of Southern Railway through the grouping act of 1921 (much l...

Re: Ballasting track
Sorry for going off topic but is that a Pendle Valley 'railway Inn' I see?. If so it would be greatly appreciated if you could get the floor plan dimensions for me. I was thinking of getting one but before I invest money into it I would like to know if It would fit on my railway (there is no dimensi...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
I do like the way the improvements are shaping up, George. I take your point about the bridge being quick and easy to add some variation, but given your past history, I suspect you won't be satisfied witha simple piece of wood for very long! Take my word for it thats it's a lot easier to do a prope...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Your garden isn't small, trust me!  I understand where your coming from, neither of us have a great space for a railway but all we can do is make the most of what we've got. There are railways 20 times bigger than mine in my local 16mm group that make my railway seem like a roundabout.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Evening all, Thank you for such encouraging comments. I hope that my railway is inspiration for people with limited space as it shows what can be achieved in a small space. Anyway, here is an update in photo form: -Only 6 feet of track left to lay until its all connected up again! -The platform has ...

I use 4:1 for all the concrete on my railway and it seems sturdy enough.

Re: TVT - First Turnout and Infrastructure
Where is the branch going and where is it leaving the loop? The branch will run further down the side of the flower bed to a yard with 3 loops and is an extension from the end of the s-bend shown in the photo. The steaming bay will be moved down to the end of the branch. The junction with the main ...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
That platform definitely looks the business! Lovely job. Thank you. It's not easy sculpting cement to the right shape and getting a smooth, level finish. There is still the other half to construct but I should have it done soon :D Sod's law the cat walked over it and made some footprints though - d...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Evening all, Here is an overdue update but with plenty of progress (and un-progress). The quarry has closed temporarily due to me plucking up the courage to rip up a third of the track for a major re-alignment to alleviate a nasty set-track curve. The bare ballast is where the track used to be - loo...

That's a big improvement from how they started off . Just a thought: you could try a wash of orange/brown paint if you can't get any more rust?
Loving the overgrown track!
