Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Interesting. I had seen photos of those dropside waggons before, but I hadn't realised how big they were! I had always assumed they were slate waggon sized.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

I think I'd agree with Peter ( not that I know!). Quarry workshops could turn out some amazing stuf, so threaded rod may well have been possible, but from a manufacturing cost, time, and simplicity, point of view, cutting a thread on a few inches at each end might make far more sense. This is the r...

Re: Stuart's occasional rolling stock thread - Slate Waggons

Excellent work with the LNWR slate wagon Stuart. Always nice to see our models completed! Best wishes Porterhouse Models Thanks Mr Porterhouse. It went together very easily although I have made a few tweaks. I saw your Facebook message about a picture btw - just need to find some time at home in th...

Re: New project. Guess what it is....

The motors/gears are ok although the open gearbox with their really fine gears are prone to collecting muck and jamming. I learned that lesson early on and now I print a thin resin shroud to enclose them. They are Ok for small 0-4-0's but I doubt they would be much good in a larger loco, three or f...

Re: New project. Guess what it is....

I've been planning to use up motor I had spare at the end of the Contractors Loco project, a small N20 "gearmotor" with double ended output shaft. I was intending to mount it vertically in the DeWinton boiler and put a sprocket on each shaft to chain drive both axles. I always knew that t...

Re: New project. Guess what it is....

The derelict loco is Kathleen , which I think is now at the Vale of Rheidol. George Henry is still as it came out of service at Penrhyn - apparently it still has the remains of the last fire in the grate! [/ quote] I don't know one way or the other but the Flickr poster has the derelict loco down a...

Re: New project. Guess what it is....

I had two sets of drawings on file the 16mm Assoc/ Dave Watkins ones of Idris and the Merionith Raliway Soc ones for George Henry. I strted with the Idris ones and then realised that since they were intended for a live steam version, they were not entirely correct in some respects, so I switched to...

Stuart's occasional rolling stock thread - Bachmann streetcar conversion

With the De Winton out of the way I have bashed through a few of the kits that have been piling up behind it; here is the second Coastline Models FR wooden slate waggon (3D resin printed) and a Porterhouse Models LNWR iron slate waggon (3D filament printed): https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52488...

Re: Sleeper replacement on the Australian Sugar Cane Railway (ASCR)

I don't think I've seen concrete sleepers used on the UK narrow gauge, although the Ffestiniog are using recycled plastic ones... Fairbourne had them in 15" gauge days; from memory they were removed because whatever rail fastening they used proved hard to tighten up. Some survive as platform e...

Thanks Rik
It's just a pair of very wide eccentrics on the axle that the rods fit loosely around. I would take a picture for you, but I'd have to take off all the loose parts first so I could turn it upside down!

I've dug the drawings out to post here, all came from various depths of the internet (as can be seen by the languages on some of them!) I've also attached two photos I find of the same loco in both the roof up and roof down position. I'm slowly doing more research into the type, with the hope of bu...
