Re: IP JESSIE
I also suspect it’ll be m3, if you’ve got a spare m3 bolt kicking about might be worth seeing if it fits. Probably got a few m3 grubs knocking around, happy to pop one in the post if it saves ordering a bunch when you only need the one!

Re: Gauge 1 ‘project’
I appreciate the positive words, just trying to not get carried away until I know it at least runs on air, if it doesn’t work then it doesn’t matter how pretty it looks! Here is a pic of her on the bench, railway is mostly mud and trackwork needs some leveling and joints unkinked for gauge one runni...

Re: Gauge 1 ‘project’
Very nice workmanship!! Wish whoever in the UK that built the Project I have would have done that kind of work, and only wish I had the tools and skills to remake a few things like the whole cylinder block assembly. Mine was poorly done and looks like a hack job compared to your fine work. Keep the...

Made a bit of progress since the last post, valve chest and valve are now finished 790E31DF-394C-4BD2-9B66-B5B0F5474950.jpeg Followed by a test fit in the chassis, happily it all turns over nicely! Re: Gauge 1 ‘project’
Bit of progress since the last post, rear cylinder cover and piston gland all made up, as per the book. With the piston I decided to fit a silicone o ring rather than the graphite yarn packing described in the book: 40260D24-F22E-4BA1-A728-11F8099D66F3.jpeg 419FB4C8-3267-4BA6-AE80-9BC50E00E91D.jpeg ...

Re: Gauge One Motive Power
Brilliant, great to see that gauge 1 is doable without spending thousands on live steam models! Are you planning to produce these as kits? I’ve been thinking that G1 needed something at the more accessible end of the market to get more people interested...

Re: Live steam at a bargain price...?
Over the summer I ordered an inflatable kayak for a similarly bargain price from a legitimate looking site. After placing the order I realised it was shipping from China and looked at the site closer and started getting a bit suspicious. I received a tracking number, which worked, and a few weeks la...

Re: Gauge 1 ‘project’
It’s a relatively large single cylinder and by all accounts the can suffer quite badly from hydraulic lock without draincocks of some kind fitted. My thinking was that auto ones would save chasing the loco to shut them once it’s managed to get started! I’m not a member of that group unfortunately, h...

Quick question for anyone with experience, the book suggests fitting lever operated drain cocks, I remember seeing auto ones on the djb site but they don’t seem ...

Made a start on the cylinder last night, first step was to face off a chunk of brass in the 4 jaw down to the correct dimensions 4256BA19-276A-4068-94EA-B0E8C828A342.jpeg Then the bore center was center popped and set up in the 4 jaw in the same way as the eccentric 164CA40C-E6C8-458E-828B-2D0F7B8E0...

Managed to borrow a propane torch to get the crank web silver soldered, then cut out and cleaned up the center bit of axle, drive axle is now complete and back in the frames.
