Re: The GRR - A Look back

I found out the Mamod wasn't up for the job. Not making around a loop, stopping on the curves, or running so fast down the back section that it would then crash as it entered the curve.. Sadly - yep, that's Mamod's, unless you're prepared to put a lot of time and tinkering in, and even then results...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

I still think my Psion is the best solution, if only I could find a way of increasing its system memory! Rik A quick google suggests that may be possible Rik, and plenty of Psion's on Ebay if you don't want to risk damaging your own - there may even be some with a standard larger memory, assuming y...

No, not yet. It'll be a few days. There's quite a bit to describe.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

I'll send a parcel down Peter with all the kits requiring assembly in GWLR's store! Can you return them completed in a fortnight's time?
Wonderful, prolific workmanship as usual.

Re: Garden Railway Gallery June 2021 - Working on the Railway

1:19 ish engineering work on The Crowfoot Light Railway . The farm tractor in the background is a smaller scale but used here to create a sense of distance. This is a photo from my archives so if anyone has any objections to me using it then please let me know and I'll replcace it. Looks very 'buco...

Hi Dan,
A good start! You might be better asking a moderator to move this topic to Railways and Layouts, and then it will be with the other accounts of building and maintaining a garden railway? Just a thought. Keep it up!

Re: Pen-Y-Bont A new portable garden layout

A very interesting 'dual purpose' layout - I look forward to seeing it in the flesh at a garden rail show somewhere soon. You can get gel crystals that retain moisture and help alleviate any tendency to dry out during dry spells or when your layout is set up indoors. Maybe worth considering if you h...

Re: Imperial Hotel - a Queenslander pub

I have tracked down some pictures of down-pipes I fitted to my structures back in 2016 (mentioned on my Time to build a railway thread) where I described using picture screw-eyes with the addition of a small collar of plastic tube either side. This helps to make the 'bracket' more realistic..... Cl...

Lovely job Aaron. The opening shot in the video could have been 1:1 scale. Despite the problem with the clearcoat, you must be very pleased.

Re: Imperial Hotel - a Queenslander pub

Looking good Aaron. I'm in awe of your patience doing the lettering by hand, and using picture hanger eyes as drain pipe brackets - what a great idea! That's something I always struggle with. Thanks for the tip

The Inspector is greeted at last! GWLR pt2

I have to say, I found it most unusual to not have a reception committee when I arrived at a new railway. I searched within the station environs, to no avail. And then, in the distance I heard what could only be the sound of someone whistling an exotic tune. Suddenly, from the direction of what appe...

Re: Testing Flikr as my photo resource

I've moved away from Flickr too - though I'm leaving all my old stuff up there which I can do with a free account (I just can't add anything more). Instead I'm paying for a Piwigo subscription so that's where new stuff goes . Wow! You musy have had a lot of stuff on there! I stopped actively using ...

And that's all the justification it needs! (That's rule #8 on the GWLR) :x
