A shame that you have had to make this mod, Peter. From my recollection, the curves on your railway are not particularly tight. It does sound as if there's a fundamental design flaw with the kit.

Just ordered myself a basic IP Engineering loco kit as the basis for a simple build/battery rc conversion. Will produce a blog entry for it as soon as it's done.

Re: Day's Rail Tractor
Hi Ronan As other have suggested, Deltang eqt is a good way of getting radio control into a small space. Because most Deltang receivers include an ESC (electronic speed controller) on the same very small circuit board, you are not wasting space by having to squeeze in a separate rx (receiver) and an...

Remarkable how well she handles those sharp curves - you seem to have got the regulator set at just the correct level.
Pleased to hear my India photos are being put to good use.

Re: Electric Chassis
I do admire your chassis (ie chassises - plural?), Tony. They look simple but are blooming effective. I might be tempted to have a go at making one myself. My success with my own chassis-making to date has been lamentable. I think I will have to invest in a pillar drill / drill press though to keep ...

Re: Lead Corrosion in Models
Was this the model where the solvent in the glue used to secure the pellets attacked the plastic bodywork? Wow, Graeme! I am impressed that you should remember that. Yes, it was one of my less successful building episodes. If it had happened with one of my earliest builds I probably would h...

Thanks chaps. Guts are back to normal - only lasted less than a day. My own fault. Got up at 3.30am (8.00am Indian time) and started editing the photos in my dressing gown. Hadn't realised how cold I'd got sitting at the computer (heating wasn't on) until I went back to bed two hours later, shiverin...

Re: Building a radio controlled (electric) traction engine
Be wary of using lead shot for weighting. It's an easy way of placing weights into any odd nooks and crannies, but it can corrode and then expands enough to break a model apart. Regards, Graeme Hi Graeme Would the same apply to .22 airgun pellets do you think? I've used them for weighting one of my...

Our AirBnBs New Delhi Tucked away in an alley (past a very smelly gents urinal) off the main bazaar near the station, it was a bit off-putting, initially. It was clean enough inside (for India) - and only for one night. The staff were really great and we met a real mix of guests from France, Austra...

I also would be interested to know your feedback about using Air BNB - on the face of it , it seems to have worked on your trip and reading between the lines, your hosts have added to the experience of your trip - I could be tempted to try something similar (just got to convince Mrs H!) - no rush o...

Great looking transformation, Greg. If anyone can program a Picaxe to control her movements up the street, then you're top of the shortlist. Maybe you'll have to fit sound, to mask the gear noise
