I somehow missed your slate wagon - sometimes the little "alerts" to the left of new thread entries don't work properly :? Anyhow, at first I thought you'd scratchbuilt it, so eagerly dived into the description (I'm looking for a tip for making the "bobbins"!! ;) ). Obviously I ...

Good morning, My Ffestified IP carriage is moving forwards slowly, with the exterior almost complete. Here it is sitting in the sunshine this morning... Transfers, light weathering and varnish next, then glazing and the interior, although with the recently improved weather that'll all take a back se...

Perfect, thanks Chris - I'll certainly be copying that so I can set up a "Shuttle Service" when the mood takes me :thumbleft: Happy to oblige, it does work pretty well - but I'm Andrew, not Chris! The steel wheels look good. Wonder whether they'd fit the original axles? I could be tempted...

(If you could embellish your "coat hanger auto reverser" I'd be most grateful :D ) Hello, I'd like to pretend that the Cox's Railcar Reversal Ramp is a wildly complex invention, but in fact it's a very simple device inspired by an incident on a friend's line when another Faller loco chang...

Re: Chocolate and Cream?

Whilst working on your Faller railbus the decision will be how to colour it ./myff/1565161/DSC02949.jpg I can't see that colour scheme going down well at the Westwood and Loscoe... An interesting project Greg, I'm intrigued to see just how you go about regauging this Now that's a shame, I thi...

Thanks for the tip-off - unfortunately by the time I got to our nearest Aldi (Southville, Bristol) it was too late... back to Plan A, sweeping and sieving chippings from nearby streets. When the neighbours aren't looking...

Thanks anyway,

Isn't freshly ballasted track a truly wonderful sight?!! So much potential... My youngest nephew visited recently, and when he came up from the subway at our local station, he glimsped the rails and blurted out excitedly "The rails are shiny and ready"! Pure poetry! THAT's what it's all ab...

Good points chaps, thank you. I reckon I'm convinced - now I just need to convince the rest of the family that a trip to a North Wales slag heap is a good idea. Maybe I could "get lost" on the way to IKEA one weekend???

That's looking very good - your steam loco's must have to take that curve very carefully!

I've often admired your fencing in your pictures - do you happen to remember the source? I've never seen any mesh in quite that style...

All the best,

Andrew.

Nice work, getting slate to improve the look of my line I found was a great excuse to get a parent to drive me to North Wales (although I'd drive myself these days), in particular the waste tips at Cwmorthin are very accessible. Not quite sure of the legal status of acquiring  slate this way though...

Hello Peter, Nice to hear the latest progress from the S&C - 170' does sound like a decent run... I'm confused though - I thought your line had uprooted itself, crossed the Irish Sea and laid itself back down somewhere in Northern England, gaining a new name in the process? Looking forward to fu...

Hello again, The warmer weather of the last few weeks (where's it gone?!) has seen me out in the garden giving the under-construction railway a bit of a cosmetic makeover. I've refurbished the old West Kent Light Railway buildings, moved existing plants and begged new ones ferom family, and spread s...

Hello! I decided to give myself a break from carriage-building and make a pair of slate wagons: http://wklr.webs.com/FR%20slate%20waggon.jpg Yes, I know that's only one - I lost the bits for the other one and so completion will have to wait until I find them again... There's nothing terribly remarka...

Looking great, love all the clutter. I'm really enjoying watching your line develop Tom, it's going to have a lot of character. Inspired by the old Welsh Highland I built a couple of Ffestiniog Ashbury 4 wheelers to ground as bodies - that's what happened to many of the real things. The idea was tha...

TPO in trouble

Hi all,

Just found this video of a rather unfortunate incident involving the Great Central's Ivatt mogul and TPO. It's a strangely undramatic clip in which almost nothing happens. "Almost" being the key word there...
