You can drive a Roundhouse loco on the reverser but it will be very jerky because the none working combination lever.

You could put a slot in coal load so it slides round gas valve so you can take it off.

Your condense sounds like a plan.I would make the pipe small as possible and leave the end open[a wisp of steam from under engine looks atmosferice].For coal bunker you could make a open box to cover the gas tank with coal on top.

No it not vacuum forming.It a frame with sheet material bent round it and glued to it.I have made bonnets for diesel locos models this way.Hope that a bit clearer.

One way is to make the ends/formers then form the shape with thin sheet around the ends.For the saddle tank you could yo use another former in the middle.

It runs like most Roundhouse loco[very well]and it was made by Roundhouse/GRS.It based on a Bagnall loco for Burma Mines Railway.
